Navy launches second [Nuclear SLBM] test missile off Southern California coast
LA Times ^ | Nov 9, 2015 | W.J. Hennigan

The U.S. Navy said it launched a second -- and final -- missile in a planned exercise Monday afternoon from a submarine off the Southern California coast.

The second test launch of the Trident II (D5) missile from a ballistic submarine in the Pacific Ocean took place Monday afternoon, the Navy said. The blast-off took place to far less fanfare than Saturday night's launch, which provoked residents from San Francisco to Mexico to take to social media, posting photos of an eerie-looking bluish-green plume smeared above the Pacific...

"Calm down, crazy!"
The Kentucky, the ballistic submarine, conducted the two launches as part of a demonstration and shakedown operation, or DASO, process that certifies the readiness of a submarine’s crew and strategic weapons before returning to operational availability.

It occurs after a submarine has its mid-life nuclear refueling, which involves replacing the expended nuclear fuel in the submarine’s reactor with new fuel. The Kentucky entered Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Wash., in February 2012 for an overhaul that ended in April.

We keep trying to send messages to China about American resolve.

Unfortunately, we still have the same, old, spineless weenie in the White House.

Reading the commentary from around the net, I can’t believe how much nuttiness this has exposed. Sure, I was expecting some, but not like this. Easily half of what I’m hearing is straight-up tinfoil hattery.

I just read a thread (not on FR) where somebody was seriously arguing that there was an unseen nuclear war being waged all around us. He was serious. It wasn’t some kind of metaphor, he meant actual millions of dead nuclear war.

I remember when I was a kid in California, probably 9 or so in the late Sixties, I saw a big blot appear in the sky roughly due south of the SF Bay Area. I had no idea what it was. I started asking adults. I got a variety of explanations. The nutty ones didn’t sound right. I accepted that it was an atmospheric test of some sort involving some substance being released at high altitude from a missile, probably launched from Vandenberg AFB. Later in life I found that yes, it was exactly that.

What I’m getting at here is that we’re surrounded by screwballs who don’t have the computational power of an average nine year old and will go to pieces if something serious actually does happen. I mean yeah I knew that, but I didn’t think that it was on the order of half of the population.

It’s the Kardashian generation. Those twits were going on about UFOs and generally freaking out as they live-tweeted the event.

Morons.

The Navy won’t launch an actual nuclear tipped missile unless we’re at war

That's what I say. Surely they remove the warhead bus before they fire off one of these.

Everyone unclench. The Trident D-5 just underwent a Life Extension Upgrade in 2014 and this is the Navy checking its work. This upgrade should ensure the D-5 stays viable until around 2030 when its replacement comes online.

I have no experience with SLBMs, but it seems that it would be an amazing and reckless waste to have a nuclear warhead just crash into the ocean in the target range area. At worst, somebody could PROJECT JENNIFER us. I would expect that the missile would be fitted with additional instrumentation or ballast that exactly matches the payload weight and balance.

If you wanted to say boo to the Russians, you’d do it in their back yard, not ours. If you wanted it to be kept secret, you wouldn’t say that it’s regularly scheduled.

"Calm down, crazy!"

"But even a routine launch can feel “exotic” and “scary” to first-time observers, military analyst Loren Thompson said." (wapo)

Especially when the president has been preaching around the globe that this sort of thing is old fashioned, unsophisticated, unproductive and would never be necessary ever again due to the fact that he was elected god. You don't disarm, assure everybody all wars are over and then do an unannounced high order systems test over the heads of the electorate. He's prepping us.

Half the population is below average.

Never forget this fact.

Indeed, that is our testing range, and has been since the 50’s. Some will remember that the floating platform with the anti-ballistic missile (”Star Wars”) launch gantries on it, was stationed out of / in the sea near Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshalls. This was the testing the lefties and the soviets stooges in our press derisively called “Star Wars”. And, it worked, as did the defenses set up in the Arctic Circle of ABM launchers.

Please people, get a grip. The LA Times indicates that every missile boat, after it goes through re-fueling (which occurs btw after up to 25 years from original reactor startup and is good for another 25 years!!) it then has a shakedown cruise for systems performance, reactor, all systems and... weapons (includes torpedoes and cruise missiles). If they can tie this test to another one— they are saving money. Some idiots said it exploded and put up a video that shows an airliner— way the hell out of the NOTAM zone... appearing to be an ABM... good Lord, how stupid.

It is pure entertainment to see some of the comments. At Vandenberg we would make a press anouncement regarding twilight phenomenon and night launch effects and still get hundreds of calls about UFO's, test failures (rapidly expanding plumes at high altitude) and impending armageddon.

My favorite is still the "wormhole" opening over San Diego last Saturday. Incredibly that actually got air time.

Mutiny Obama.

No, not the military, Art in Idaho. You and me. You and I are loyal to the constitution, inalienable rights, natural law and nature's God. I say to Obama:

"You are the enemy of our law. Whether congress impeaches you or not, whether the military mutinies you or not, you are powerless from this moment. We will not hear you when you speak or give orders. If you send others to force us, we will trigger their inherent sense of reason and convert them. If we must use force for self preservation, we will use force without anger and without fear. If we are prosecuted for it, we will bear that burden and convert everyone in the jail."

"We will buy more guns and ammo. We will carry concealed weapons and transport firearms in our vehicles lawfully. We will protest and blockade your illegal immigrants and refugees from relocating in our territory. Your Obamacare is criminal and we will not participate. Your Trans Pacific Partnership agreement is criminal and we will not comply. Your executive orders are a misappropriation of power that perverts and mangles the law and order of our society. They are therefore null and void."

It would be nice if the congress was loyal to what they know is right. It would be easier if the military would protect us from this lawless commander in chief. But we've run out of time. We can't wait and hope for a nominee to save us or fix things. It is up to you and me. We don't have to take any action. We only have to ignore Obama as irrelevant. Default to original law and go about your business as if he was never there. This is my meaning in mutiny.

Organize openly online and over the phone because they are listening and words our our mightiest weapon.

Well said. We are the last line of defense. Yes, Mutiny Obama!

I really liked what you said to Obama and your summary sentence:

"We don't have to take any action. We only have to ignore Obama as irrelevant. Default to original law and go about your business as if he was never there."

The agitation at Mizzou, Jade Helm data collection, the Missile shoot - all intended as harassment and fear induction? Whatever, we shall carry on and Fight!.

Continue to Pray for America and Prepare!

“Calm down, crazy!” is a movie quote from Silver Linings Playbook. Meant to be funny. ;)

I wonder if Chinese domination really is possible. We hear and see all their economic numbers but they are communist so I don’t trust them and their numbers anymore than the numbers generated in Washington(5% unemployment are they serious?). I think a depression could be the undoing of the chicoms with a massive internal upheaval.

My money on the next dominating power is radical islam. If it can ever be concentrated, with one country leading it they could rule the world as the western countries have been so destroyed internally by liberal rot would any attempt to fight back?
