MARKSVILLE — Police body camera video shows the father of a 6-year-old autistic boy had his hands up and posed no threat as police opened fire, severely wounding the motorist and killing the boy, the man's lawyer said Monday.

"This was not a threatening situation for the police," said Mark Jeansonne, the attorney for Chris Few, who remained hospitalized, missing the family's funeral for 6-year-old Jeremy Mardis.

Jeansonne spoke with The Associated Press after a closed hearing for the two marshals. He said the judge ordered both held on $1 million bond. Derrick Stafford, 32, of Mansura and Derrick Greenhouse Jr., 23, of Marksville each is charged with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder.

The lawyer said he still hasn't seen the video, but its contents were described to the judge during the hearing.

He also said that while Few's condition is improving, he has not yet been told that his son died at the scene.

Riots are not about facts and justice. Riots are about free bigscreen TVs and armloads of Air Jordans.

One of the marshalls had a previous personal beef with Few. Sounds like he was trying to avoid him. The pretense the marshals used was that he had a warrant, however it turns out Few had no warrant, or even a record at all if I’m not mistaken.

Wow, if that’s true, just wow. They wanted to murder they guy, and they almost did. And they murdered a little boy. That is just so messed up. Why did they think they’d get away with this? They must not have known the kid was in the car. Now they are screwed.

They knew the kid was in the car and had apparently discussed it earlier. The only reason it was captured on camera is that a real cop showed up with a body cam and saw what happened. Had the real cop not showed up it would have been swept under the rug, the fake cops would have made some excuse like “he was pulling something out of his pants, we thought it was a gun”.
This is 1st degree, it was a girlfriend dispute.

Do you think they killed that little boy on purpose? And are there enhanced penalties for crimes against children in LA?

Bigger question. Why was "the law" chasing Few?

No reason, unless they were intent on harming him

I don’t think it is necessary to be a mind reader to determine if someone committed murder. There have those who have stated that the cops talked about the boy being in the car minutes before the shooting. Nobody accidentally puts 12 bullets into a car, the little boy is dead. The shots fired were premeditated. I am totally sickened by this horrible crime, that this should happen in this country by someone given authority to protect us boils my blood. It is like a little girl being sexually abused by a teacher, it is so wrong on so many counts. I hope he dies in prison and gets all the hell possible from the other inmates because he is a cop.

It would have been better for them to have had millstones tied around their necks and thrown into the sea.
