MARKSVILLE — Police body camera video shows the father of a 6-year-old autistic boy had his hands up and posed no threat as police opened fire, severely wounding the motorist and killing the boy, the man's lawyer said Monday.
"This was not a threatening situation for the police," said Mark Jeansonne, the attorney for Chris Few, who remained hospitalized, missing the family's funeral for 6-year-old Jeremy Mardis.
Jeansonne spoke with The Associated Press after a closed hearing for the two marshals. He said the judge ordered both held on $1 million bond. Derrick Stafford, 32, of Mansura and Derrick Greenhouse Jr., 23, of Marksville each is charged with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder.
The lawyer said he still hasn't seen the video, but its contents were described to the judge during the hearing.
He also said that while Few's condition is improving, he has not yet been told that his son died at the scene.

“This was not a threatening situation for the police,†said Mark Jeansonne, the attorney for Chris Few, who remained hospitalized Monday and could not attend the funeral of his son, Jeremy Mardis, on Monday.
The funeral was held at 1:30 p.m. in Hattiesburg, where several members of his mother’s side of the family live, according to his obituary. Family sought privacy and barred the media from attending the small service and several attendees declined to speak with The Advocate.

The ABC report I heard this morning did not enhance their descriptions of the police and victims by naming their ethnicities, strangely.
Here I thought that was standard practice where police shootings are concerned.

Maybe not, but he just knows in his heart that the most lucrative scenario for him definitely happened.

This is about the only good thing in this dismal story. Perhaps the most inept and abusive prosecutorial agencies in the state will not be involved. Directly, anyway.

And this is on the heels of the two deputies killing the rancher up in Idaho whom they had called to take care of his injured bull For me, it gets easier and easier to see why all citizens do not trust their police. If the cops expect our cooperation and trust, they had better start today to change the way they operate. If they don’t, as it is said “you ain’t seen nothin’ yet!” They are still in the minority within our population, and they will not survive if the abuse continues.

Well, the Marshalls who did the shooting certainly look black. Perhaps they will become White-Blacks for these purposes, but most likely this will just be silenced and ignored, as it doesn't fit the narrative. As the DA said when he recused himself, this case is "not good for any of us,"
