Veronica Castillo is still pretty upset. She hit the jackpot at a Lucky Eagle Casino slot machine and won $8 million.

Except the casino said it was a machine malfunction and gave her $80.

The mortgage loan officer took her mother to the casino in Rochester, Washington last weekend. She put $100 in a machine and hit the jackpot — she thought.

"I was very excited, happy," she told KOIN 6 News. "Then I couldn't believe it."

The casino staff came over and told her the machine malfunctioned.

"They shut off the machine, took it away, printed out a ticket and gave me $80."

Oh I get it...the slot machines work fine when they take your money, but when they 'jackpot,' it's considered a malfunction.

This crooked casino needs to go out of business.

if the machine was malfunctioning then they need to return the money to every person who played on it

I would find a lawyer to sue them and sue them again and keep doing it until they gave up and paid up

Ha haaaaaa!!!

Now doubt her fellow gamblers simply continued to sit at their machines pumping in quarter after quarter oblivious to the possibility that the same thing could happen to them.

Ah, well. At least people are still free to be stupid in this country.

This is not the FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED

This has got to be the 10th time I heard that a ‘jackpot’ was called a malfunction.

People who go to that casino tomorrow are suckers

Lawyer up and have them prove in a court of law that it was a malfunction. $8M at stake.

What’s the odds of a slot machine to malfunction? She should win just on those odds!

Any story, such as this, from the Pacific North West should remind us all that those people are loonies. Leftist libtards who would think that this is a normal, OK thing for the casino to pull on a jackpot winner. A POX on them all.

The indian casinos have the worst pay out stats. I guess this is how they keep them.

Of course it is a malfunction. You don’t think they are designed that way to pay out, do you?

It's easy to be an arm chair commentator ... and I don't gamble ... but I THINK ... if I ever hit something like that, I'd have pictures from every celphone in the entire joint (a promised cut, of course ... with 8M ... y'kin afford it)

THEN hit the lawyer

y'might end up with half ... but ... who'd be complainin' ??

“This crooked casino needs to go out of business. “

Based on the name I’d bet it’s an “indian casino.” Which means it’s not in the United States, but rather on “indian land.” So good luck suing.

Sounds like what the government is about to tell us when we don’t get our Social Security at retirement time.

“We spent the $1800 per month you were going to get. We’re going to give you $14 an month. Our government malfunctioned”

“if the machine was malfunctioning then they need to return the money to every person who played on it”

You just know some attorney will file a class action suit on behalf of all who played the slots at that casino (”they were playing on a malfunctioning machine and might have won millions if it had been working properly”). If the attorney wins, he/she gets millions, and each claimant will get maybe $500.00 (if that).

That’s why it’s called “gambling” - you take a gamble and usually lose - she lost.

At least the Illinois lottery admits they squandered the money.

So THAT’S going to be their tact now? Claim “machine malfunction” and screw over the winner?

I hope she lawyers up and showers that casino with lawsuits.

Injun casinos can do anything they want without fear of legal recourse.

There are several around these parts, and a few years ago, the local paper did a series about how they don't even need to adhere to Code.....a fire inspector who accompanied the writer said he'd shut one place down entirely, based on the exit doors alone, if the place wasn't on tribal ground.

The resulting lawsuit should claim that it doesn't matter if it malfunctioned or not.

The casino is responsible for the equipment and its maintenance. Their neglect of their equipment does not mean she didn't win.
