COMMON CORE: New Jersey Teacher Gives 8th Graders Homework Assignment About Booze, Herpes, And Sex
YOUNG CONSERVATIVES ^ | November 7, 2015 | Andrew Mark Miller

All across the country, people who are thoroughly unfit to be teachers are spreading misinformation and exposing young children to terrible subject matter in the classroom without any restrictions or safe guards.

This problem is reported on so frequently it’s hard to tell what’s more rare, ludicrous homework assignments or normal ones.

Asking fourth graders about liquor, homework assignments about Allah, denigrating Christianity, liberal talking points, pro-amnesty propaganda, the list goes on and on of examples of teachers poisoning the minds of the children they are supposed to be protecting.

The latest example from New Jersey might take the cake.

From Breitbart:

A New Jersey school district is facing backlash after an eighth-grade teacher gave her pupils an assignment to consider what they would do if they got drunk, had a one night stand, and contracted herpes, an incurable sexually transmitted disease.

A copy of the assignment was acquired by Fox News. The scenario is as follows:

You had a really rotten day, but lucky for you your best friend is having an awesome party later. You go to the party and start drinking. You have a little too much to drink and start talking to this girl/guy you’ve never seen before. You head upstairs to get better acquainted despite several friends telling you that you don’t even know this person. You end up having sex with this person. The next day you really can’t remember everything that happened and rely on your best friend to fill you in. A week later you find out that you contracted herpes from your one night stand and that this is a disease you will have all your life and never know when an outbreak will occur.

When Loper contacted the school to complain, she was reportedly told the assignment is part of the core curriculum that ties into a book students were given titled The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens.

It is unclear whether the book is assigned as part of the Common Core program.

What teacher in their right mind would give this out as part of a homework assignment?

It is hard to understand what is wrong with some of these teachers. Maybe they just don’t care anymore since they know it is virtually impossible to fire a teacher thanks to unions but mailing it in doesn’t even seem like enough of an excuse for something like this.

These kids get enough of this garbage everywhere they go from the media, television, and all of their friends and they don’t need teachers making things even worse.

The classroom is supposed to be a place where kids can go to get away from this stuff, not a progressive petri dish for teachers to experiment with.

Isn’t that a lesson on the consequences of irresponsible behavior?

The same people who want this also shout about how more money is needed form the schools as we are falling behind the world.
That just shows how delusional these people are and it also shows no matter how many times or facts are given to these people they want to ignore it.

Surprised this wasn’t an assignment on “rape culture”.

I love the scenario the assignment gives. “You go upstairs”. Where exactly are you supposed to be? In high school, we had sex at home. Not at some public service announcement party house with preconfigured hook up rooms that were “upstairs”. The people who create this crap are clueless. The kids see right through it and aren’t stupid.

We homeschool and I am often shocked and outraged by what is taught in public schools. This, however, isn’t as shocking or outrageous as other stories. I have an issue with drinking and one night stands presented as normal behavior, but at least they showed the very real and permanent consequence of that choice.

Don't fret too hard.

A communist teacher in grade school had me agreeing a very 'progressive' income tax was fair.

By 7th grade, I had thought it through and dismissed it as absurd.

nobody is ever irresponsible are they?

Sure they are. Every day.

And there are consequences.

Why is that fact a problem for you?

Isn’t that the point of consideration?

I don’t advocate drunk one night stands. I also know that most kids that walk through middle school hallways have not been brought up with any
moral guidelines. I would rather see them thinking about consequences instead of reacting to an outcome.

Is that a problem for you?
