Ben Carson will endorse statehood for Puerto Rico tomorrow at an event with Ricky Rosello, a gubernatorial candidate for the pro-statehood party on the island, according to a source close to Rosello's campaign.

The source said the condition for Carson speaking at the event was that he come out for statehood. A request for comment from Carson's campaign on the endorsement was not immediately returned.

The issue of statehood for Puerto Rico, a commonwealth of the United States, does not neatly breakdown along traditional Democrat and Republican lines on the island, which is also dealing with a financial and health care crisis.

Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio have previously said they support statehood if Puerto Ricans vote for it. Hillary Clinton and Jeb Bush have endorsed bankruptcy protections for the island, but Rubio does not.

Perdogg is stretching the truth again.

He takes a quote and turns it into what he wants it to be.

From the interview:

After Todd pressed him on that admission, Trump said he would "look at a number of things," including D.C. statehood, that would make "everybody happy."

“Source: Ben Carson Is Endorsing Statehood For Puerto Rico Tomorrow On The Island”

What??? That’s nuttier than the claim Joseph built the pyramids to store grain in!

But wait! It’s the MEDIA reporting this and the MEDIA can’t be trusted for any reason whatsoever, ESPECIALLY if they say anything negative about Gentle Ben. Probably this is just another unfounded media attack on Gentle “Lying King” Ben.

Funny how Puerto Rico gets to have delegates have an effect on who gets on the ballot but can't actually vote for President (since they're not illegals from Mexico).

As far as I know, Cruz hasn't played up to them by pushing for Statehood, but all the candidates need to do the "obligatory tours or send reps of their campaign to the place to help secure nomination for the ballots.

So far there is a "source," quoted by Buzzfeed.

From Newsmax:

Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson will visit Puerto Rico on Sunday to speak at a political event organized by a gubernatorial candidate in the island's pro-statehood party, a campaign aide said.

Carson, under fire over inaccuracies in stories he has told about his early life, will speak at an assembly organized by Ricky Rossello, a pro-statehood politician running for governor against incumbent Alejandro Garcia Padilla, said a source close to Rossello's campaign.

The 64-year-old retired neurosurgeon is tied with Donald Trump at the top of Republican primary polls a year before the November 2016 presidential election.

He plans to make only a brief appearance in Puerto Rico, arriving on Sunday in time to speak, then leaving, said the source. A Carson campaign official said up to 5,000 people were expected to attend the rally.

Carson has little support among Republicans in Puerto Rico, who mostly favor candidates Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio. The source said Rossello did not invite Carson to speak, and that Carson had asked to be included in the program over the last few days.

Carson may be trying to push himself onto the agenda in Puerto Rico as his opponents have, not only because the island's residents can vote in presidential primaries, but because Florida, a major swing state, is home to nearly 1 million Puerto Ricans.

The man is a disaster. All the noise of the last few days has just been a distraction from the fact that this guy is a liberal who runs around saying he’s a good Christian and conservatives buy it. If he was anyone else, he’d be laughed off the stage for his leftist positions and looney statements.

This reminds me of the words of the fictional sage, Obi Wan Kenobi, who asked, “Who’s the more foolish, the Fool or the Fool who follows him?”

Carson is such a brilliant neurosurgeon that he was able to perform his own lobotomy. What excuse do his disciples have?
