Good one.
Also if you are a child in a religious household and that religion is being persecuted by secular authorities or authorities of other faiths wouldn’t you naturally develop a distrust towards outsiders?
We’re well into the countdown to classify Christianity as terrorism.
Sounds like a good bet. Also a good way for the author to push a lie without actually lying (I'm sure most of the readers would have equated 'religious' with meaning 'Christian'), and the author would do nothing to deter that notion.
Fwiw, the study said results for Christians and Moslems were similar. It would be interesting to see the correlation of other factors, such as income. Maybe children from better-off families are more inclined to give away hypothetical stickers to an anonymous, same-ethnic-group peer in their school.
Or maybe religious children had more of a “This study is crap” attitude toward the study, “Just give me the stickers so I can leave.”
“If you look long enough you can find a study that supports any opinion you might have.”
If you know anything about experimental design, you can conduct a study to support any opinion you might have.
It all depends on what the definition of is is.
Maybe because they learned the value of a buck? I know my kids did and are hard working tax paying upright citizens at this moment anyway:-) They also have no college loans and 1 even owns a house right now.
And would not recognize stranger danger?
Exactly
Polling is a an example of this property of design choices.
The results of a poll can be determined by the question asked and how it is asked.
I don’t believe it. This sounds like a conclusion first, study second piece of work.
The key to the study is the ability to judge who is in which group.
Big difference between someone who is “religious” and someone who has realized their need for a savior, believed in Jesus and is living for him.
Sadly those dopes start to believe and soon are parroting the propaganda.
Nor should you. This article doesn’t cover how the kids were studied, what they were asked to do, or report for instance. This is deliberately very vague, and the bibliography suggests they they merely cobbled together a ‘study’ from a number of other unrelated papers, which allows them to cherry pick their information. Also missing is any peer review.
Also not identified? The author’s employers and who paid for this ‘study’
And oh my word, what the left can do to the American family as a result of needing to ‘correct these attitudes’!
What would be the charitable purpose of sharing stickers with strangers? What is the noble purpose of the sticker? When playing Monopoly, are you going to give away your properties, hotels, and houses to some unseen person in the next room? Hell, no! Does that mean you are a bad Christian?
Ask the kids to share some of their meal with a starving child in the next room and let’s see how many are willing!
total garbage article
Well, exactly. The tested action is meaningless. Even if it was meaningful, like sharing a meal, you don’t know what people would actually do - vs. what they say they’d do - unless you observe them doing it in real life.
total and complete BS
look at the publicly available information on just about any liberal democrat and you will find they give almost NOTHING to charity. And just the opposite is true of conservative Republicans.
