Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, mayor of Baltimore, almost gets teary eyed when she talks about the need to rebuild her city with immigrants and refugees.
It is an issue that is close to her heart, but the argument she uses is not new. It’s the same line that is touted by the mayors of other cities, mostly in the Rust Belt, like Baltimore, Minneapolis, Detroit and Pittsburgh.
They crave a steady flow of new immigrants and refugees, they say, because their economies depend on it. Too many of the native-born middle class whites have long since departed for the suburbs.
Baltimore, for instance, has lost a third of its population since 1950. Detroit has lost almost half of its population, and Pittsburgh has also struggled.

This woman looks so stupid. Now that she has set Baltimore back 30 years, she will not seek re-election for fear she may have to clean up her huge mess.
Her only solution is to get an influx of immigrants to get all that welfare money.
Why would they be upset if native born middle class whites moved out of their cities?? Since whites and racism are the roots of all the problems of places like Baltimore wouldn’t they be happy so many whites fled?? I don’t understand the liberal reasoning here.

I believe I was about to be offered a position around Baltimore a few years ago now. They flew me out and everything was going swimmingly, with a fancy salary in the offing, when someone pulled the plug. I even know who it was/is.
Seeing things now, much as I hate to say it, I probably dodged a bullet. Maybe literally.
