Glad you made it. I became curious when Dan Rather’s lies blew up and the commentators kept mentioning that a FReeper had busted him! I signed up because when I read stuff I couldn’t keep quiet. LOL! I don’t know how many times in those early days I was called a troll! :)
i have that poster hanging on my wall
what a fantastic event. The Free Republic that exists today is but a pale shadow of that which was.
I don’t remember when the event was announced but the announcement prompted the question...... do I really believe all this stuff? I decided that I really did and that I must go. to my everlasting amazement I learned that thousands asked the same question and just showed up.
We literally took over the hotel, the hall ways, the stairways, the elevator and the two small conference rooms. There was at least one enterprising soul that made T shirts to finance his trip. The poster in question cost a lot, maybe $35 but the proceeds went to defray the event expense so it was worth it.
one amazing fact was there wa a convoy coming from somewhere up north. Somehow it was in contact with someone already in the hotel. as their arrival became imminent, there was a rush outside to greet them on the street.
on Sunday morning at the invitation of I can’t remember who, we attended Ft Marcy Park and had a guided tour to the spot where vince foster’s body was discovered. along the way, were post it notes stuck to the canon and stuff, a bread trail of sorts. it was left the previous night, halloween btw, by Freepers (not yet having that name) that wanted to visit the site but had to leave early the next morning for the long drive home. What spooky fun...
I remember the convoy as well that was met in front of the hotel...wasn’t that Sam Adams and his group from MA? Not sure and my memory is certainly not getting any better. :{)
Well done, excellent job keeping the politicians feet to the fire!
I was still lurking then; signed up around a month later.

Correction; in 2000 a month later.
Truly one of the best things I've participated in during my life. BTW, Congressman Bob Barr said that the rally was instrumental in getting Clinton impeached.
Greatest meeting all FReepers who went to DC on 09/12/2009!
It was a Great event!!
When’s the next one??
See my tagline?
Lurker at the time... took the recount debacle to get me to sign up (plus the class of â98 was pretty scary...).

Same story for me. I was working for Salon.com at the time. I was in deep.
it was a great event.
I was part of the security detachment and had the privilege of driving dr keyes and his wife around town after his speech.
great job running the show roger.
Thank you. I remember hiring you guys for security but don't remember names and how I came to know you. If you want to refresh me, please send a Freepmail.
You guys were indispensable, although Connie Hair gave kudos to the Park Police who didn't do much of anything other then threaten to shut us down (I talked them out of it). She was involved with the speakers and her PA duties and had NO idea what was happening all around her and the grounds. She even complained afterwards that I wasn't around enough for her druthers, while I was doing recon on the entire event for hours and putting out brush fires. She was quickly gone after the event while we picked up trash into the dark.
I knew there would be power struggles and that's why I insisted there should be an over-all coordinator - someone with final say. No one wanted such responsibility in the initial meeting...so a lowly ex-Aviation Squid volunteered. One of the best decisions of my life.
I just watched the event recently for the first time from a recent FR article a couple days back. It reminded me that it was you guys who encircled the stupid kid with a knife at the VIP Tent, contrary to Hair's claim that the Park Police did it. Turns out the dumb kid really didn't mean any harm.
It was a good day thanks to you and your brothers-in-arms and all the volunteers. We made a difference. Congressman Bob Barr told me later that we were instrumental in getting Clinton impeached and losing his law license.
I want to give biggest kudos once again to FR names BobJ, Jolly, DC in Washington (or similar) who worked behind the scenes with me regarding logistics, and yes Connie Hair who did us right by filling in at the last moment as the public announcer. Although she and her last minute buddy, Mojo, were problematic, they did a great job recruiting great conservative speakers of the time. Hate to give Mojo any credit - what a control freak, but credit due is my motto.
Without pulling my notes from the event, I want to also thank ALL the volunteers who came from far away to help assist...from the Flag Procession to manning the reception area just right of the stage and helping with the perimeter. I was so proud to just associate with them and couldn't believe the professionalism that everyone displayed.
Pretty sure I posted 2 different articles trying to name all from my notes. My girlfriend (now wife) and I spent many hours the night before signing up volunteers for next day duties. The line was out the room and down the hallway. I was humbled and felt privileged to ask such wonderful Patriots to do such mundane tasks. They were all so thankful to do anything, even if standing to support a tent pole to ensure safety. Choking up...gotta go...
I think that was the day I actually joined FR. I found out abut it from Drudge’s site. He gave a heads up about the March for Justice and he had the FR link on his site. I clicked on it, read a few posts and was hooked. I watched March for justice and cried because I thought I was alone in my angst about the Clinton’s.
I have enjoyed all these years of interaction with Freepers. I’ve been with them through so much. All those Correspondant’s dinners, the Friday nights at Walter Reed, The Rally & Dinner for the 13 House Members which I actually managed to attend in person. I’ve never felt alone in being a rock solid Conservative since I became a Freeper. I’ve made many life-long friends, many of whom have traveled from CA to visit with me and enjoy some of our WV hospitality. I’ve lost a lot of friends, LadyX, Texas Cowboy, and many others. We have all been part of a big unmanageable herd of cats which Jim has done a masterful job of corralling. God bless you Jim Robinson. You have made life easier for a very large family.
Has it really been that long?
My wife and I attended the March for Justice and two months later, in early December, I returned to attend the pre-impeachment rally in front of the Capitol. Near the end of that rally, Jim Robinson asked me to address the crowd concerning an event that occurred earlier in the rally. I do not have any pictures of me at the podium but if someone does, I’d love to hear from them.
Joined in 1997 but mostly just to refer back to and find articles. Gradually I realized that there was more than commenting going on! So great just be a small part of a great enterprise!

It was a blast timestax. I wish you could have been there wth me that October 31.
Yep, too bad..but I was in Hong Kong at the time, eh.
You never told me you went to Hong Kong during the 3 days I was gone. I hope you didn’t get into too much trouble over there.
I came w/Gracey, KatyKelly, Rejoyce, a gal named Vicki, and our star...Rejoyce. After we landed we ran into none other than James Carville in baggage claim. We spotted him, called out his name, and he turned to us with a friendly smile. We yelled, “WE’RE HERE FOR THE MARCH FOR JUSTICE,”. The smile turned into a frown, a shaking of his head, and he marched out the exit with his face all wrenched up. I think that was the highlight of my day!
JimRob, you da Man!
Thanks for sharing your memory of that day.
Of course, seeing Snakehead Carville could have scarred me for life!
