A Russian airliner has crashed in central Sinai with more than 200 people on board, the office of Egypt's prime minister has confirmed.
The Airbus A-321 had just left the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, bound for the Russian city of St Petersburg.
Wreckage of the plane has been found in the Hassana area and bodies removed. An official described a "tragic scene".
Flight KGL9268 disappeared from radar screens when travelling at 9,500m (31,000ft), Egyptian officials said.

I doubt Putin would go that far. Too much friendly collateral damage. He wants the ME on his side or to own it and not render it unusable. He wants oil prices back up. He needs oil prices back up. He is using the iranian hatred of the saudis to bolster his position.
Before I die the house of saud will fall, I’ll go with 10 years or less, but the US may fall as well. We are on borrowed time from my point of view. We have recovered before but not with as much division as we have now.
I’m not saying it means anything, but they got up top FL310 pretty fast. Is a fast, steep climb normal for that departure?

How is there any debris or bodies? When the airliner plunged straight down in Pennsylvania on 9/11, we were told there were no bodies and no wreckage because the impact vaporized everything. So why, here, is that not true?
Just guessing, but if they really are finding wreckage and bodies in a 5 km area of some sort, that means it broke up on the way down. Flight 93 went straight into the ground intact. Scattered wreckage indicates an in-flight breakup. Investigators will be able to map the pattern of the wreckage to help track at what altitude the A321 actually came apart and how fast/what direction it was moving.
If the plane was really at 31,000 feet when it started to descend and then broke up, that would more likely indicate a bomb than a missile. Shoulder-launched missiles can’t reach that high. But some mobile ground-based SAM launchers can.

The fact they are avoiding the area proves SAM can’t be ruled out. Is there always a traceable radar blip from any surface to air object?

I hope Putin returns the message. My sympathies to the families and friends of the victims.
