How bad was the backlash against CNBC after Wednesdayâs Republican presidential debate? Bad enough that producers at its sister networks were reportedly told to tone down their coverage of the controversy.
As CNNâs Brian Stetler reports, CNBC itself originally covered the debate normally, but later abandoned coverage entirely. âAs the day went on, there was less and less talk about the debate on CNBC. According to one of the employees, producers were given internal guidance to move on.â
Apparently, similar instructions were given to CNBCâs sister networks. âAt CNBCâs sister news outlets MSNBC and NBC News, producers were advised not to âpile onâ the moderator controversy, according to people there,â Stelter reports.
Despite those orders, there were some isolated incidents of MSNBC anchors criticizing the handling of the debates. Conservative MSNBC host Joe Scarborough, for example, criticized the moderators and said the debate was a âtrainwreck.â

Why would ANY republican-owned business spend money advertising, or appear on CNBC after this?
Ha! As if that was going to happen...
I’m not concerned CNBC is biased to the left.
I’m really not. Nor am I concerned that CNN is leftward biased.
Every major network is biased to the left.
The network whose bias I am concerned with is Fox. Fox should be friendly to our side.
They’re far, far, far too invested in the GOPe.
It is ridiculous, and it is very troubling. America badly needs a real competitor to Fox.
Soon.
Lol! What a frigging joke, as if.
Chuck Todd was on with Hewitt, and acted very cautious about any debate comment.
I’m hoping Newsmax on DirectTV will do just that....
F***ing propaganda industry is circling the wagons for mutual protection. They realize that if the meme gets going, people will start looking more critically at their networks too.
They are all biased. Virtually every employee is an Urban Liberal Democrat who is a member of a Union. You could probably count the conservative Republicans employed by all the networks on one hand, if that.
Stop the debates now. Use internet with positive moderators only. I’m sick of these communists.
John Harwood, who was the most biased at the CNBC debates, is an MSNBC and NBC political reporter. Just because CNBC was the branded network for the debates, does not mean that MSNBC was not in control of the tone of the questions.
CNBC does have some Republicans on staff. But none were hosts. The questioning was clearly worded in a way to make candidates look bad. The whole idea of CNBC hosting the debates, was to have a debate based on economic issues. But that was hardly the topic of the night.
Also maybe OAN
The coup of 2008 was made possible because Fox was threatened with annihilation if they allowed anyone to speak of Obama’s eligibility problem or Muslim leanings. Fox is allowed to do what makes it appear “conservative” but on the critical issues Fox will do as they are told by the powers-that-be. That’s so they can try to stay credible with conservatives even while silencing the issues/facts that matter the most. In that hostage condition Fox is worse than nothing at all.
I’m sure that Trump knows this, because he has spoken with Mike Zullo who knows those threats happened. When Trump took on Megyn Kelly he was very wise, because he let everybody know from the very start that he does not need Fox and will call a spade what it is, even if it appears as a good-looking, popular “conservative” commentator who is actually doing a hit job on behalf of Fox’s owners. The message was that whoever threatened Fox in 2008 will waste their time trying to stop Trump by threatening Fox again.
Trump has introduced something critical into this farce of a system: independence and truthfulness. He was willing to think for himself on Obama’s birth certificate problem, and as a result of being unwilling to accept the standard BS he learned vital information that is now helping him know how to turn the hostage-takers upside-down. I think Trump knows that 2008 was a coup and knows how it happened - and he fully intends to have the last laugh on all the jerkwads who called him an idiot for simply seeking the truth regarding Obama’s eligibility. And his message resonates. We’re all sick of the BS, sick of being lied to and told we’re crazy if we don’t buy the lies.
Love, NBC management
Well Priebus has now been pressured to the point he cancelled the next NBC debate set for Feb 26th. Good. They need to cancel or re-negotiate every debate that is left.
That ship sailed way back when he was on HLN or MSNBC with "Scarborough Country". Now he is a typical New York liberal through and through.
yes OANN should be included for at least one of the debates as they are clearly the only network that can claim to be fair and balanced. FOX lost that claim years ago.
