"Is the VA not doing the job?"
For 21 years, a wounded veteran who served with the 101st Airborne fought for his nation. On Tuesday, in an emotionally charged face-to-face meeting, Donald Trump promised to take this veterans side in the ex-soldiers current battlefield: the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Trump was answering questions at a Sioux City, Iowa, campaign stop when a wounded veteran named Todd was given the opportunity to speak.
These are our greatest people. The wounded warriors. These are the greatest. The best, Trump said before leaving his podium to greet the man and his family.
With the current administration, warrior care is lacking to say the least especially post-service, Todd said to Trump, noting that he did not work and his wife, April, was his caregiver. What will the Trump administration do better than the Obama administration?
Is the VA not doing the job? Trump asked.
April explained that Todd was supposed to enroll in a new VA program, but cant get an appointment.
Trump acted decisively. He told Todd and his wife to put their information on a card and give it to him so he could champion their cause.
I am going to put pressure on the VA like you wont believe, Trump said to major applause from the crowd. Lets see if we can get this.
Love this aspect of The Donald’s platform. Love it.
That is the instinctive reaction we need in a Lotus!
It will be wonderful to have a Commander in Chief once again who cares deeply about our military, a leader that they can respect.
"Lover Of The United States" ?
Boy, that's a misleading title isn't it?
+1
And how!
This is one reason the rest of the field looks so small up next to Trump. He’s real and he cares and doesn’t mind showing it.
All VA bureaucrats need to be set to the front lines.
Great response.
If Trumps attitude towards vets is real ... he has my vote ... he and Cruz
I have to wonder where is his local VA office? Or even his congress critter? Are they too busy finding places for Syrian "immigrants" to settle or something?
It Was provocatively phrased.
I do believe it is real. It is directly in line with all the tremendous things that Trump has done for individuals behind the scenes and without any recognition that have made a profound difference in their lives. The man has a good heart.
Trump is the same guy who gave Sgt. Tahmooressi $25K to help him back on his feet after the Obama admin ignored him in Mexican prison for seven months.
The VA has been MIA for decades when it comes to the needs of our vets.
What makes it most touching is that you know Trump will follow through. That’s the way things are done by successful people in the real world - they follow up and make sure stuff gets done. Obama probably would have done the same thing at the time and as soon as he got back stage he would have tossed the man’s information in the trash and forgot about him within 5 seconds.
Exactly. For Trump these people are real. For Obama and Hillary they are just stage props.
It would be cheaper to sell all VA real estate and give recompense to to hospitals, physicians and therapists to take care of our Veterans. I will never happen, though, because all the foriegn Doctors, who dont know what the hell they are doing, couldn’t find work.
