Megachurch Pastor Robert Jeffress has suggested that GOP Presidential candidate Donald Trump has a legion of “closeted” Evangelical supporters who are “almost apologetic for being attracted to him.” In an article for Fox News on Monday, Jeffress, who leads the 12,000-member First Baptist Church in Dallas, said that he has talked to a number of Evangelicals in recent trips, who have told him they support Trump because they see him as a strong leader. “After criss-crossing the country for the past few months and talking to thousands of people, I’m convinced that there are a legion of ‘closeted’ Evangelical Trump supporters who are almost apologetic for being attracted to him,” Jeffress wrote.
“They are not under any illusion that Trump will be conducting Bible studies in the Oval Office, nor do they feel like they are abandoning their Christian values to support Trump,” he added. The article focused on comparing Trump and Republican rival Dr. Ben Carson, who Jeffress said is garnering support among Evangelicals for his “uncontested commitment to Christianity.” He said that in the current GOP race, many Evangelicals are weighting their support for a “strong leader” like Trump, against someone they identify as a “committed Christian,” like Carson.

A strange concern for a Christian to have, considering the people who have occupied the Oval Office. I don’t know if General Patton was a Christian, but I can thank God we had him.
God looked down and offered a key job to Paul of Tarsus, who was putting Christians to death, and was on his way to kill some more, when he received the job interview.

I, too, hear from Christians in my community that are not comfortable voting for Trump. That ‘never asking for forgiveness’ comment is yuge in their minds and they can’t get past it.
As for myself, I agree with you. I have seen God use people that I would have thought were the most unchristian people you could ever meet. And, it turned out I was wrong about them.
If your heart is in the right place, God can and will use you. And want to add I love Pastor Jeffress -— he seems like the real deal.
I really like Cruz too. Nothing in my spirit says that he isn’t who he is...a brother in Christ. However, I don’t believe it’s Cruz’s time to be President.

Maybe you should bring up the fact that if Donald had said on nation tv what he asked God’s forgiveness for, that would have made headlines. Ask them if they would like their personal conversations with God plastered all over the media? I don’t need to know what people pray for - or ask forgiveness for - it’s none of my business or is it anyone elses. That question from Frank Luntz was out of line and too personal. Shame on Luntz for asking that. I wouldn’t have answered it either. Trump didn’t give a good answer, but I think he was taken off guard.
There is so much more that is crazy. B. Obama refuses to protect our borders and hands rewards to illegal aliens who break the law. Senate refused to pass Kate's Law. Our basic values are under attack on college campuses where even mentioning them is censure. Ten Commandments are torn down because the ACLU hates them.
D. Trump is one of the few who can bring back some normalcy. I doubt Dr. Carson has these skills.

All my Evangelical friends and church friends support him. They make this sound like we have to keep quiet - we don’t. Trump is saying what needs to be said
