In the Eastern California town of Clovis, California, at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains, Marilyn Williams, a woman who earned a sharpshooter medal in high school ROTC, scared a couple of burglars so badly that they dropped their loot and ran.
She got out her gun and had them in her scope; however, she decided not to fire. According to police, the two burglars ran off. Police tried to find them but the pair disappeared and are still at large.
The burglars dropped the loot from the previous burglary of an elderly couple, their own weapon, and a mask.
In the Marauder forum at marauderairrifle.com, they seem to believe the rifle used is the largest caliber Marauder, a .25. The bore of the rifle shown in the pictures makes it seem possible, but it could be a .177 or a .22.

I’ve got a sweet Daystate AirWolf .22 PCP. It has a 10 round magazine, a suppressor to keep the neighbors guessing, and can easily spit out about 70 shots in between air fill-ups with pinpoint accuracy. I shoot gophers in the head at 50 yards when they dare to poke up in my lawn. While initially very expensive to purchase the rifle, scope & scuba tank accessory, pellets are cheap, and so is air! I use it to teach my boys proper scope usage, breathing technique, and how to stalk game - in our backyard. Its wonderful for that, and not at all a Wally World “BB gun” (tsk, tsk). My daughter and her fiancé bought me a nice 1500 fps air rifle 2 years ago. 1500 fps is too fast and loud. I traded it in for a nice 1050 fps .22 cal Benjamin so that I could plink in the back yard without alarming the neighbors.
The problem with pellet guns that are faster than 1100 fps is that a sonic shock wave will catch up with the pellet and make it tumble.
Also used the old Sheridans for harvesting pot meat for the table...... very very good air rifles as well as the crosman series pump .22 cal pellet pistol.
I am not sure but here in texas there is a Air Force brand or model that is 50 caliber....
Or its one of the “clear” see through lens caps....

I shoot the primer-only Aguila 22LRs in my S&W 617 in the basement for practice for my S&W 686. Both are same except for caliber.
They sound like a suppressed 22LR, but they could still do some damage.

I’ve got a Model 48 in 22, the accuracy is incredible.
I have see thru caps on my AR and most of the time I leave them on when taking a quick shot out of the truck.
I have a Daisy 880s, and put a Bushnell 4x32 scope on it for $30 more (and gave the orig. scope to my daughter to put on her Crosman 760.) The 880 / Bushnell combo is hard to beat for plinking - it’s a real tack driver with pellets, once properly sighted in and practiced with.
However, for the occasional varmint, like a big raccoon that would get into it with our cat, and didn’t take the hint when I plinked it with the 880 (a couple weeks later the coon was back), I purchased a Ruger Impact .22 airgun. It does 1000 fps with .22 alloy pellets (a bit less with lead “Devastator” pellets.) I left the scope off the Ruger so I could get shots off quickly at night. Being a break barrel type airgun means one pump, although it requires some real effort, The Impact is heavy, too - this is NOT a gun for a 90 lb. youngster. Once sighted in, and I got “acclimated” to the gun, I was surprised how accurate it was without the scope. The power is enough to severely split the BACK of a soda can filled with water, using (again) the Devastator pellets. It certainly did a number on Mr. Coon. Obviously, this is not a stopping power weapon for self defense. But if you hit a human with a carefully placed (or perhaps a “lucky”) shot, no question it could be fatal.
I bought a range of pellets to try out which ones work the best. I have some with red plastic tips, some called ‘perpetrators, some called ‘devastators’ etc. And you’re right, the heavier ones slow down a bit but are still faster than some .22 rounds.
My Benjamin “Trail” (.22 cal nitro piston rifle) came with amber tinted see through lens caps that look just like that. I rarely use them, but that’s just a personal preference

I don't know if that is company wide, or if it possibly just referred to my local Wally World. I have heard that they are caving in somewhat on firearms, so who knows? Next thing ya know, they won't sell baseball bats in sporting goods since they are lethal weapons.
I was in my local Wal_mart just a couple of days ago and noticed they had the 880 in stock.
A few months ago, I noticed they had several air guns on clearance. They were all marked down to half price. Unfortunately I only had around $50 to spend. They had a Crosman Stealth which had originally been $79, marked down to $40.
I wondered what was wrong with that model as it was 1000 fps with normal pellets and came with a 4x32 scope and mounts.
Well I bought it and it is one of the better air rifles I own. It has a synthetic stock with an AR type pistol grip. I have arthritis and it is much easier for me to grip than the regular wood types.
I do not have a chrony but could tell it was hitting hard. Also have still not done any formal accuracy testing but I got it hitting the center of cans fairly quickly. It seems to be very accurate.
Really an incredible buy at $40.
