Donald Trump May Need New Playbook Against Surging Ben Carson
NBC News ^ | 10/27/15 | Lee Ann Caldwell

Posted on 10/27/2015 4:03:32 PM PDT by randita

As polls show Ben Carson catching - and even surpassing - Donald Trump, the brash businessman's attacks against his closest challenger have intensified. His remarks could backfire for being redundant, vague and hypocritical.

While Trump has been known for direct and personal verbal lobs against his opponents in the campaign, this is the first time he has found himself faced with another outsider who has risen above him in some recent key polls. And his strategy so far has yet to have any impact on Carson as the former pediatric neurosurgeon has refused to take the bait.

On MSNBC's Morning Joe Tuesday, Trump was quick to question Carson's appeal, insisting that under scrutiny, it won't continue. A "a lot of things will come out" about Carson's record, Trump said.

Trump challenged Carson's strict anti-abortion position, which Trump said wasn't always the same.

"Ben was pro-abortion not so long ago as everybody has told me," Trump said.

Trump was most likely referring to Carson's tenure as a pediatric neurosurgeon when he referred pregnant patients with genetic abnormalities to doctors who also perform abortions - a decision Carson defends pointing to the importance of "qualified medical supervision."

But the problem with Trump's statement is that his own record is not very consistent. In an interview on NBC's "Meet the Press" in 1999, Trump said that while he "hates" the idea of abortion he is "very pro-choice."

I'm not so sure that SDA is a cult. Here is some information about their religion and wife Candy's involvement.

Maybe some of those with government incomes and in favor of big spending saw some of his proposed cabinet choices. Maybe they see that Trump's choices might be more inclined to cut taxes and funding for government jobs and pensions.

Donald Trump mentioned 'terrific' Warren Buffett when he was asked about potential cabinet picks

"Trump also said billionaire businessman Henry Kravis, former General Electric CEO Jack Welch, and "Carl" — the business magnate Carl Icahn, if Trump's past statements are any indication — are the sort of people who could serve in his administration."

Gonna need you to site some reliable sources on that.

From Seventh Day Adventist 28 Fundamental Beliefs: Belief #4:

“The Son #4
God the eternal Son became incarnate in Jesus Christ. Through Him all things were created, the character of God is
revealed, the salvation of humanity is accomplished, and the world is judged. Forever truly God, He became also truly human, Jesus the Christ. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived and experienced temptation as a human being, but perfectly exemplified the righteousness and love of God. By His miracles He manifested God’s power and was attested as God’s promised Messiah. He suffered and died voluntarily on the cross for our sins and in our place, was raised from the dead, and ascended to heaven to minister in the heavenly sanctuary in our behalf. He will come again in glory for the final deliverance of His people and the restoration of all things. (Isa. 53:4-6; Dan. 9:25-27; Luke 1:35; John 1:1-3, 14; 5:22; 10:30; 14:1-3, 9, 13; Rom. 6:23; 1 Cor. 15:3, 4; 2 Cor. 3:18; 5:17-19; Phil. 2:5-11; Col. 1:15-19; Heb. 2:9-18; 8:1, 2.)”

I heard Rush speaking and the last 2 republicans to win IA were Santorum (2012) and i think Ron Paul (2008)? might be wrong on that. But the point was, IA is not the bell weather for the nation!

I still maintain all of this is to keep Trump from center stage at the next debate. I have a strong hunch that Trump is going to win Iowa.

Look for surging Rand Paul (Carson is sleep walking into the good night).
First, Paul is filibustering the budget sell out.
Second,Paul is against spending a dime and thousand of more lives in the middle East.
Third, Paul is against our loss of freedom on the Internet.
I expect he will sweep young voters by the millions and watch for him to shine tomorrow night clearly separating himself on these vital issues.

The Archangel Michael is seen in the New Testament. Hebrews tell us this:

“For to which of the angels did He ever say, ‘Thou art My Son, today I have begotten thee?’” Hebrews 1:5 (emphasis added).
“But of the Son He says, ‘Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever...’” Hebrews 1:8a .
“But to which of the angels has He ever said, ‘Sit at My right hand, until I make Thine enemies a footstool for Thy feet?’ Are they [the angels] not all ministering spirits, sent out to render service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation?” Hebrews 1:13-14

Jehovah’s Witnesses and other cults also believe that Jesus is the Archangel Michael.

Jude 9 clearly shows that they are two separate beings. Jesus is the Creator, Michael is a created being.

Trump challenged Carson's strict anti-abortion position, which Trump said wasn't always the same.

I don't think Trump wants to bring this up. Otherwise, someone might point out that as recently as 2012, Trump was "personally pro-life" but believed that women should have the "right to choose", and only opposed partial-birth abortions.

With Trump, what you see is what you get. He’s not “invented”, he is who he is and says what’s on his mind and not what’s politically correct. That is what attracts so many.

Dr. Carson is a stand-in for people who aren’t comfortable with Trump

I do believe you've nailed it.

Carson is essentially the "I want an outsider, but not Trump" candidate.

It would appear there are more and more Republicans, conservatives, right of center voters who feel this way.

It could just be a bump in the road for Trump, but it also may be that he isn't wearing well and some of his antics are alienating people.

Carson's previous (as in 6 months ago) views of the 2nd Amendment are pretty worrisome, as well.

You know that as recently as 2012, Trump supported an "assault weapons" ban and extending waiting periods for buying ANY gun, right?
