Trump says Jeb Bush is 'embarrassing' his family with poorly-run campaign

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush shouldn't be running the country if he can't even run his own campaign. Trump was in Jacksonville on Saturday, the day after the Bush campaign announced staff trims and 40 per cent pay cuts for those who remain. He said Bush, the son and brother of former presidents, is embarrassing his family.

Trump also made fun of Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, saying he's out of money and "sweating like a dog."

Jeb’s the duck the mother abandons. Only in this case his mother announced America doesn’t need another Bush, but the mental runt didn’t listen.

Now his poor father has to watch his dynasty burn to the ground in the winter of his life.

The best recent comment about Jeb Bush is that, had he entered the race promising to proportionately slash the size of the federal government as much as he is now slashing his campaign, he wouldn’t *need* to slash his campaign because he would be #1 in the polls ahead of everyone else.

However, he wants that scrutiny directed at Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton for her role in the Benghazi tragedy–and not at his brother, former President George W. Bush, for the latter’s performance in the time leading up to the 9/11 attacks. On Thursday, as the House Select Committee on Benghazi was hearing Clinton’s testimony, Jeb Bush took to Twitter. “Benghazi security failures were a stunning example of an incompetent foreign policy. ‪@HillaryClinton’s role as SOS deserves scrutiny today,” Bush tweeted. Megyn Kelly of Fox News turned that thought in a different direction when Bush joined her on her show Thursday evening. “But if it is fair to question Mrs. Clinton for failures leading up to September 11th, 2012, why is Governor Bush arguing it is not fair to question his brother for failures leading up to September 11th, 2001?” Kelly asked, wondering if there was a double standard at work. “Not at all,” replied Bush. “If there was tangible evidence that there was an attack that was pending and no one acted, of course there would have been criticism but that’s not the case.” Kelly noted that Donald Trump has said there was enough knowledge of the likelihood of an attack ahead of time to have taken some steps to prevent it. Bush disagreed. “Trump doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Trump doesn’t know what he’s talking about. He doesn’t know anything about this,” Bush said. Trump, during a brief 2000 run for president, had warned about terrorist attacks in his book, The America We Deserve. “I really am convinced we’re in danger of the sort of terrorist attacks that will make the (1993) bombing of the Trade Center look like kids playing with firecrackers. No sensible analyst rejects this possibility, and plenty of them, like me, are not wondering if but when it will happen,” Trump wrote. “One day we’re told that a shadowy figure with no fixed address named Osama bin-Laden is public enemy number one, and U.S. jet fighters lay waste to his camp in Afghanistan. He escapes back under some rock, and a few news cycles later it’s on to a new enemy and new crisis,” Trump also wrote in his 2000 book.
