The fiscal conservative hasnt been conservative with his campaign contributions.
Ben Carson is trailing Donald Trump by just a couple points in the latest Real Clear Politics average of national polls of Republican primary voters nationally, and hes leading the pack in another important metricfundraising. The retired neurosurgeon announced last week that his campaign had raked in $20.8 million in donations in the third quarter, the most of any Republican candidate. But Federal Election Commission filings also show that he spent $14.2 million during that same period, more than any Republican. Given his huge fundraising hauls so far, he still has the second most cash on hand of any of the Republican field, but given the fact that much of his support comes from small donations, its unclear whether these supporters can be tapped again and again like the wealthy and well-connected boosters of some of his rivals.
So what is Carson spending all this money on? You have to spend money to make money, and the Carson campaigns biggest expense is fundraising itself. Heres the Wall Street Journal:
In all, Mr. Carson directed $11 million of the $14 million he spent in the third quarter to fundraising costs. The campaign spent nearly $5 milliona quarter of its total haulon social media, email marketing and online advertisements. Mr. Carsons Facebook presence in particular has drawn attention for the size of his audience. Last month, he surpassed GOP front-runner Donald Trump to become the candidate with the most fans on Facebook. He spent $2.6 million on direct mail, $1.4 million on telemarketing and another $57,000 on the campaign website.
Theres also the matter of what Politico has called Carsons appetite for the good life. It points out that he has spent thousands of dollars on swanky hotels and steak dinners,

Support? If you mean to be the next President, I will say; No, he does not have my vote.
But, I do support him in many ways, as he delivers many positive messages (no I do not agree with all he says). And he opens the door to people that otherwise would not be drawn to vote against the Democrats.
He is someone we need to welcome, but not someone to be a leader.
Crap like I have seen tonight will drive him and others who may support him away.
Ben Carson closely tied to Mannatech
The Wall Street Journal has revealed that Republican Presidential candidate Ben Carson, M.D., has had a “long and personal involvement” with Mannatech, Inc., a multilevel marketing company that has faced serious government regulatory action. [Maremont M. Ben Carson has had ties to dietary supplement firm that faced legal challenge. The Wall Street Journal, Oct 5, 2015] The article noted:
In 2009, the company settled false-advertising charges brought by the Texas attorney generals office, which had alleged that Mannatech had permitted deceptive” and “illegal” miracle-cure testimonials at sales meetings and allowed materials circulated by associates suggesting its products could treat or even cure Down Syndrome, cystic fibrosis, autism, cancer and other serious illnesses.
Carson has given four paid speeches at Mannatech gatherings, most recently one in 2013 for which he was paid $42,000.
Until recently, Carson appeared in promotional videos posted on Mannatech’s website. In one such video, he said that Mannatech represented “an incredible opportunity for anybody who really wants to be involved with doing something themselves, making a good living . . . “
In another video (still posted on YouTube), Carson praised the company for “trying to find a way to restore natural diet as a medicine, or as a mechanism for maintaining health.”
In the YouTube video, Carson also talks about his personal use of Mannatech products. Dr. Stephen Barrett believes that Carson’s enthusiasm for “natural products” reflects poor medical judgment. (from the website Quackwatch)
‘Politico has called Carsons appetite for the good life. It points out that he has spent thousands of dollars on swanky hotels and steak dinners,’
Who does this guy think he is Obama?
>> It points out that he has spent thousands of dollars on swanky hotels and steak dinners
A vague accusation by Politico. Typical.
Well he should know better. What Motel 6 not good enough for him.
After all Obama, may peace be upon him, suffers in one star hotels, eats left over meals purloined from the dumpster of the local McDonald’s and must walk at night because he doesn’t have shoes and his feet would burn on the hot pavement.
Damn that Carson living like he was a World renowned pediatric brain surgeon and candidate for the nomination of a major political party!
Paying FOX for all those phony polls showing him nipping at Trump’s heels is expensive.
Just what we need. Another black president. So he can govern unopposed and get away with murder since no white politician or journalist would dare criticize any of his decisions for fear of being labeled “racist”. And forget about ever bringing articles of impeachment. Don’t we ever learn anything in this country anymore from experience?
Dr. Ben Carson is a lifelong vegetarian.
Buying zombie Facebook likes and Twitter followers can get pretty costly once you go for millions.
Never let the truth get in the way of a good smear!
agree but there is something about Carson that causes me concern and I really cant cant say what it is! maybe he blinks too much LOL.
Check out Carsons Google map of his West Palm Beach home. Is that a golf course in the back yard? Hmmmm and who owns it pray tell?
Just saying
He has not yet submitted his claim to owe-bamacare.
Doctors typically don’t make good businessmen.
He’s not running for president really. But his handlers are trying to use him to promote their political consulting skills. They keep talking about their innovation in social media and his great presence, including number of followers, as proof. Yet, the day of the second debate someone here pointed out how he was gaining thousands and thousands of followers by the hour. Then, sure enough, Carson tweeted out praise for himself for his growing number of followers and bigger gains on the day of the debate than any other candidate had realized.
In other words, they’re cheating, yes, in part to falsely promote Carson, but also the more to promote his handlers.
And, of course, he was in the race at the behest and with the backing of the GOPe to start with. They think it looks good to have a skirt and a minority (e.g., Bachmann and Cain in 2012) in their lineup. But the more they know the GOP conservative base is a sucker for backing a black man—so relentless are the charges of racism that they endure 24/7/365. They probably thought he’d be peeling off a critical chunk of Cruz’s vote (which he no doubt is), but the bigger target now of course is Trump.
Carson gets his ego stroked and the GOPe pull the strings.
“Carson is an amnesty pimp, so discovering where Carson is spending his money is the least of the problems we have with him.”
That’s the main complaint I have with Carson. Immigration is by far the most important issue we face and it appears Carson doesn’t take it seriously.
Trump, by contrast, has been very good on immigration. I hope Trump can be trusted on the issue.
