Reagan would not have allowed Republicans to pile on Trump as they did, and insult the base in the process. Trump was not proactive in the insults, he was reactive. He fights back, and actually Reagan would like that. I see huge parallels between Trump and Reagan, and I was there.

And he fights back to the point he quells the threat. Then he treats them well. Poke the bear, suffer the consequences.

Just a question of the lot of you, were any of you of voting age during the Reagan years? I was, and I tell you, in every meaningful way, the “amiable dunce” and the “clown” are uncannily alike; only their personalities are different.

No. Reagan might’ve retorted, but not publicly and with a whole lot more class. I was around for Reagan as well, and I knew people who worked directly for him on the White House staff. Reagan was the epitome on geniality and class. Trump isn’t even close.
