Donald Trump on Bush 9/11 remarks: 'I'm not blaming anybody'
CNN ^ | 10/19/15 | Jeremy Diamond

Donald Trump on Monday stood by his comments that former President George W. Bush did not keep the country safe since he was president during the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Trump insisted he isn't "blaming anybody," but repeatedly reminded Fox News viewers that the "worst attack in the history of our country" occurred on Bush's watch and suggested that the attacks could have been prevented.

"The fact is we had the worst attack in the history of our country during his reign. Jeb (Bush) said we were safe during his reign. That wasn't true," Trump said. "And I'm not blaming anybody and I'm not blaming George Bush, although if you look at his three primary agencies, they hated each other, they weren't talking ... And a good leader would've made sure that they would get along and talk and lots of other things happen."

Trump was referencing how top law enforcement and intelligence agencies including the CIA and the FBI weren't coordinating as closely as they do now in the run-up to the 9/11 attacks.

Using the word “reign” is brilliant!

Reminds the listener of the Bush family dynasty.

Do we need another President Boosh ?

Disingenuous doesn’t begin to describe Trump. All of the hijackers got into the US on valid visas. The pilots arrived here in 2000.

Only an idiot would try and blame Bush for 9/11.

What I do blame Bush for in 2005 when it was confirmed it was the Clintons that were collaborating with the terrorist Bush did nothing to stop them.

And Harry Truman was in office less than 4 months when Hiroshima happened.

Huh? Now, if you could have said that Pearl Harbor happened when FDR was in office less than 4 months, you may have something.

Yet, I notice Trump never touches on the fact the first Twin Towers attack, the Khobar Towers bombing, the U.S. embassy bombings in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam, the USS Cole attack and the planning for 9/11 occurred on his good friend Bill Clinton’s watch.

Why the inconsistency?

Perhaps. Anyway, I’m not here to bash Trump, though I currently prefer Cruz. I just don’t like any implication that the Presidency is some sort of monarchy; we’ve seen more than enough of that attitude from Obama.

I wonder whether anyone else finds Trump’s repeated use of the word “reign” when referring to a Presidential term just a tiny bit disturbing.

Nope...

Don’t forget, in the months prior to 9/11, Bush was spending all of his time trying to give Amnesty to illegal Mexicans prior to his Amnesty Summit with Vicente Fox one week before 9/11. Bush was too worried about legalizing illegal Mexicans and wasn’t paying attention to anything else prior to the attacks.

I’m tweeting this to Trump right now.

Certainly as President Elect he was kept informed of security concerns.

The Clinton White House refused to conduct the transition process for the incoming Bush administration for more than a month after the 2000 election while Al Gore contested the results in Florida.

Trump can talk about the Clinton’s later. Right now, his job is to squish Jeb’s campaign like a bug and help cut off Jeb’s remaining donor cash flow.

Bush’s Amnesty push for illegal Mexicans started in February 2001. It was his #1 priority after he took office.

Trump isn’t running against Hillary yet. He needs to squish Jeb like a bug first.

Yes. I am aware of that. But all entered on valid visas and the pilots entered in 2000. So HTF is Bush responsible for 9/11. Did he hire Gorelick? Was he supposed to have foreseen that these particular overstays were going to fly planes into the towers? Just what did Bush not do that you and Trump would have done to prevent 9/12?

Which, by the way, is NOT what he was elected to do!
