Ben Carson Made A Big Announcement That His Supporters Probably Won’t Like
The Political Insider ^ | 10/15/2015

Ben Carson has made an announcement that has some wondering if he is a serious candidate for President. He suspended public campaign events for two weeks so he can go on a book tour. The presidential candidate is promoting his book, “A More Perfect Union” and hoping to catch up on fundraising. This is a highly unusual move during a presidential campaign. There are often jokes about candidates running for President because they want to sell books, but Carson seems to be doing just that with this move.

His next public campaign event will be October 28th. His last one was October 2nd. That will be over 3 weeks without a campaign event. With the Iowa Caucuses quickly approaching, this should be concerning to his supporters. Any serious candidate should be shaking hands with targeted voters and seeking media coverage. He can’t do this while he is peddling books. Carson is gaining ground on frontrunner Donald Trump, but rather than increase his efforts, he is suspending his campaign events. This does not make strong political sense and gives his competitors an advantage.

Something is not right with this. Maybe Mr. Carson isn't a serious candidate.

Trump won’t like this lack of worth ethic. Stock for Carson as V.P. choice is going to go down. Kasich V.P. stock going up.

I like Carson, however since he is so nice and not really that political, he is going to need someone to show him the ropes and that is where he can get himself into trouble. By not knowing enough he can easily trust the wrong people to “educate” him.

We have until NEXT summer before the conventions.
We have MORE than a full year until the election.
I’m curious about how many people are getting just plain fed up with this 24/7 caterwauling about the next election.
After a while, we want a rest from the non-stop meadia propoganda blitz, especially knowing in advance just what a given reporter from a given channel will say in favor of who and against who.
Enough...have mercy already. Our heads are spinning.

Aren’t the book sales just gain for his personal wealth? That would not be for building cash funding for a campaign unless he decided to donate some or all of it I think.

Same goes for Trump who also has a book coming out. Personal income, though being self funding his campaign still means he needs to throw something into his bank accounts anyway.

Isn’t politics just strange?

Unless books were already written I don’t think as President or maybe even in the Senate or House that anyone in government can legally write a book that they can make money personally on while in office.

Again, politics gets murky as well.

Yeah just ignore the facts “Journ-o-listers”

“It’s a question of co-mingling from the corporate standpoint to the Federal Election Commission standpoint so it’s just better to avoid any bad appearance,” said spokesman Doug Watts.

I know I know. Integrity in a Political Candidate! How shocking the poor little dears must find it!

That would be disappointing.

I met Dr. Carson on his book tour at a “cocktail” (there was no booze) party. He is extremely sharp and you can he is a good guy after about 10 minutes in the room with him.

I am not sure he’s ready to be president, however. I’d put him in charge of Dept of Health or the VA and get that worked out, if he was willing to tackle such a crappy task.

Get about 7 years of learning how to wrestle with the red tape, and he’d be ready, I think.

This is a non-issue. Reagan didn’t even anouce until November, 1979. Carson is in a solid position, and is unlikely to hurt himself in any meaningful way. If it were Jindal, Rand Paul or Graham, then it would mean the end was imminent.

I know being he is not in public office nothing stops him from still earning an income until he is elected.

He can I believe donate whatever he wants from his income from the book to the campaign.
Probably could take a deduction as well for what he donates legally.
I think the problem would be more to do with what happens regarding money used AFTER it is in that political account.
Then IMO you better keep records and keep it neat, all legal and tidy.
