Debate Video: Bernie Sanders goes face-first into the tank for Hillary on her e-mails

"America is 'sick and tired of hearing about your 'damn emails' - Bernie Sanders at the Oct. 13, 2015 debates

Here’s the moment last night where I learned that making Hillary “feel the Bern” means inviting her to put her feet up by a cozy fire. It’s also where I learned that Sanders isn’t actually trying to win the nomination.

The strategy behind this, I guess, was to stay focused on his message that there’s a war on the middle class and that no petty scandal should distract us from that. That’ll play well with many lefties and it’ll earn him some goodwill with other Democrats who have zoned out of the stories about her server and know it only as some sort of Republican hatchet job on her. Sanders should be able to walk and chew gum at the same time, though, pushing his class-warfare campaign while making the case that Hillary’s unfit to win that war both because she’s not all that progressive on some issues and because she’s deeply compromised by scandal.

He makes a point here about the perils of “oligarchy”; well, one characteristic of oligarchy is that the oligarchs believe, correctly, that rules that apply to lesser people don’t apply to them. They’re accountable to no one, and they’re willing to risk the security of the average person in order to make themselves more comfortable. That’s the deeper point about Hillary’s freakishly reckless insistence on setting up her own server, not what’s in her “damn e-mails.” She exposed classified information to foreign intelligence and she did it because she didn’t want to be subject to the same oversight at State that the other chumps there are. How does a populist like Sanders fail to note, at least, that this scandal is dripping with ruling-class entitlement?

At the barest minimum, the public backlash to Hillary over the server scandal in the form of horrific poll numbers about her honesty is something that should worry him and the left, as it may end up making the difference in the general election next year. If you’re hot for a socialist revolution, you’ll care a lot about her e-mails if Ted Cruz ends up being elected president instead of Hillary because voters simply don’t trust her. The fact that this guy was unwilling to devote so much as a minute of his time to making that case suggests he’s a hack who’s in the race as nothing more than a morale booster for liberals until they finally sigh and resign themselves to Clinton 3.0. Pitiful.

So that’s one thing we learned last night, that Sanders doesn’t want to win. The other thing we learned is that Geraghty is right — this party now is, for all intents and purposes, loud-and-proud socialist. What Jim Webb was doing there, I have no idea.

As several others have commented. I do believe that Sanders is a Clinton Creation or at least a Clinton co-optation. After it is all over with Sanders will probably accept a lucrative position with the Clinton TaxEvasion Slush Foundation.

Could it be that the other four on stage don’t want Biden to enter the race? All of the talkers this morning are saying that hillary’s “strong showing” will make it less likely that he has any reason to do so.

It’s tough to really know what goes through the minds of the crap weasel party. If Biden is able to think clearly, he would know that Hillary came off stupidly, and that the other “candidates” held their fire. It would mean that when the time came, he could be aggressive in a debate against Hillary and she just might explode into one her one her screeching tirades. Biden would also know that polling showed that Hillary tanked during the debate. I expect more leaks against Hillary, and if she is actually charged with a crime, Biden is IN!

"What a flaming moron."

He's lucky that he's not a flaming flatulent moron, because that could get explosive!

re: Biden is IN!

I don't disagree with you hypothesis. If he still gets in, it's sickening. Anyone who is going through a grieving process (and Biden previously has) knows that it's not brought up in the cynical way he's using it to elicit sympathy and bring his dead son into his decision. Either his son's wish (assuming even that's true) inspired him to run, or it didn't. I had some respect for Biden, putting up with Obama all this time and having overcome the earlier tragedy in his life, but that's just about gone.

This indecision has gone on for so long now. I'd think it shows that Biden is not stable enough to be President. Mygosh, what would happen if as President he has another tragedy to deal with (God forbid)?

“Sanders looks like he went face first into a LOT of things.”

Sanders is 74 and is not wealthy. And, I’m guessing he won’t run again for the senate. So, he looking for a meal ticket once his term is over. Thus, the making nice to Hillary.

Bernie Sanders USA, Mrs. Bill Clinton USA

Communism (rabid Socialism) has never worked before, but Sanders and Mrs. Clinton are here to assure you it can.
Nevermind that Capitalism caused the United States to become second to none, where Communism failed to even
provide a decent society anywhere it has been tried.

Communism / Socialism cost over 100 million lives last century.  Why not give it another chance...  /S

Perhaps others want to sacrifice their nation and families on that alter.  I don't.

JMO, Biden is dreadfully incompetent and unstable. There isn’t any crisis he wouldn’t make worse. He would be a nightmare for his White House Press Secretary.

Trump's Effect on Debate Viewership

It's nearly impossible to quantify some things in life.  Why people tune into debates is probably one of them.

What we do know for sure, is that the first Repubican debate this year set the record for the most watched debate in history.  24 million viewers tuned in.

No we've seen the Democrat debate viewship numbers, and they came in at 15.3 millon.  That is 46.25% less than the Republican debate.

One statistic that hasn't been mentioned much is this one.  The highest viewership in the 2011-12 debates was 5% of U. S. households.  The first Trump debate in 2015 was viewed in 16% of U. S. households.

People who try to tell you Trump won't do well against Democrats will have a tough time explaining how he just did do well against them.

He not only trippled the 2011-12 viewership of his own party, but came in at 156.9% over that of the Democrat viewership in this one.

Trump is a one man phenominon.  He pulls in 10, 20, and 30 thousand people at his apperances while others pull in 10, 20, and 30 hundreds.

It is reasoned to think he is the big draw this year.  Lucky for us, he agrees with our agenda.
