Rep. Dave Brat (R-VA) believes the next House Speaker must be opposed to amnesty for illegal immigrants, but acknowledged that opposing issues the GOP establishment and big-business interests covet becomes tougher as someone moves up the leadership ladder.
On Breitbart News Sunday on Sirius XM Patriot channel 125, Brat told guest-host and Breitbart News Washington Political Editor Matt Boyle that a lot of the folks move up into the leadership slots and the Chamber of Commerce and the big companies that want cheap labor come into play and they put tremendous pressure and check-writing on the leadership figures.
The Chamber of Commerce will reportedly budget $100 million to destroy the Tea Party during this election cycle, and Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), the GOPs establishments favored candidate to be the next Speaker, has been one of the most ardent supporters of amnesty legislation, which has even earned him the endorsement of pro-amnesty advocate Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL). When asked about Ryans potential candidacy, Brat told Boyle that were going to interview all the candidates on the process and on those policy issues.

“Next House Speaker Must Oppose Amnesty for Illegals”
Bingo!!
Blackburn Acts to Block Obamas Lawless Amnesty Program

He needs to take the true concerns of the grassroots into account over any other interest group and be willing to act on those concerns.
If he can do that that he will be a shoe-in.
From Dave’s site, http://brat.house.gov/speaker-commitments
10 Commitments the Next Speaker and House Leaders Should Make
Policy
1. Facilitate a budget that balances within 10 years and seek to enforce it through the authorizing and appropriations process.
2. Encourage committees to advance market-driven health care reforms to replace Obamacare.
3. Support policies that secure the border and enable interior enforcement while opposing amnesty for illegal immigrants.
4. Urge all committees to advance agendas based on limited government, economic opportunity, and fiscal responsibility.
5. Enforce the rule of law and separation of powers against executive (presidential) overreach.
Process
6. Seek reforms of the Republican Conference Rules so leadership committees better represent the American people.
7. Adhere to the majority-of-the-majority principle for bringing legislation to the floor.
8. Support changes to the budget process to promote fiscal responsibility, particularly regarding mandatory programs (70% of current spending).
9. Empower committee members to choose chairs and craft reform legislation without fear of retaliation.
10. Broaden opportunities to offer amendments and legislation on the House floor with full debate.
Dave would make a great speaker. Not much on experience but hell, that’s a plus.
"He noted that nearly everybody in his district and those of of nearly every GOP Representative knows that the illegal immigration problem lowers the wage rates for everybody.
The average annual incomes for the American family are down substantially over the last years and were feeling the pinch, so its just a matter of common senseare we going to do policy that is good for American citizens or are we going to do policy that is good for big corporations? Brat continued.
Brat added that immigrants who have waited in line are not happy about folks who are cheating and cutting in line and breaking the law as their first act when they come into the country.
He’s a very smart guy. Y NOT!
Can’t we just have leadership who says:
“Our laws must be enforced, equally and vigorously.
Our system is not broken.
The problem is the people in authority in the presidency, congress, the courts and the executive bureaucracies who ignore their oaths of office and use their power to manipulate or ignore the law and the US Constitution.
There is no point in passing more laws on the same issues if our government does not enforce the laws we already have.”
This is all turning into a struggle similar to electing a Pope who is not Italian. Years of inertia to break through.
Aw yes, someone with a clue!
The guy is a winner. Cantor got creamed by him.
Cantor got creamed by an organization called Center for Self Governance. Read up on the group and how they succeeded in unseating Cantor with only a handful of organizers.
Go Brat!
And let’s be clear on what amnesty is. ANYTHING that permits those who illegally entered the country to benefit from that illegal act IS amnesty.
Amnesty will only incentivize millions more to enter illegally.
And $200K and flip-phones.
Dave Brat has lived up to his promises 100%. Unlike most politicians.
I have been hearing for years that Democrats want illegal immigration for the votes and Republicans want illegal immigration for the cheap labor.
What cheap labor are they talking about? The only cheap labor from immigrants, illegal or otherwise I know of is lawn care, room cleaning, dish washing and cab driving. Am I missing something?
And the easy solution for this is to just hire high school and college students. You get them for the same price.
And Brat is conservative, committed, and doesn’t back down from his principles, actually seems to care about the people.
I agree with Brat and opposing amnesty for criminal illegal aliens, would narrow the field down considerably eliminating every Rino.
Go Dave Brat - we need more like him - and more districts to be like ours that kicked Cantor’s a** to the moon.........glad to be one of those who put Brat in office - good friends were two of his key campaign people.....
MARSHA BLACKBURN for SPEAKER!!
