Doug Giles does it AGAIN!
Guns are also good for situations like this:
The Battle of Athens was an armed rebellion led by WWII veterans and citizens in Athens and Etowah, Tennessee, United States, against the tyrannical local government in August 1946.
After the Sherriff used 200 deputies to beat and detain the WWII veteran supporters of the opposing candidate during the election, he took the ballot boxes back to the jail house for an official count which violated Tennessee law. Then the shooting started and the people took back what was taken from them.

Column by Eleanor Roosevelt describing this as a warning to politicians

Great list, but I feel he missed a slam dunk with the Clackamas Mall incident. It was also in Oregon like the Roseburg shooting of last week.
As usual, and on cue, my detractors (cough liberals) said how insane I was to augur for guns in the hands of a trained and licensed civilian on campus.
I don't think that the author understands the actual meaning of that word, to wit:
To foretell events by observing and interpreting signs and omens.
Regards,
So, like - why are there armed civilian guards inside IRS Taxpayer "Assistance" Centers?
Concealed carry license be damned. Any licensing, registration, permit or background check requirement is a clear INFRINGEMENT on the rights recognized in the second amendment.
Anyone who should not be armed should not be running around loose.
Augur? Might’a meant argue; it fits. Maybe bad proofreading.
Please! Calling them Dillweeds is just plain inaccurate, Dillweeds are both useful and serve a purpose, these people are neither of those.
The whole gun control/confiscation game is based on one simple truth — They don’t trust us. Simple as that. The average citizen, in their twisted liberal minds, cannot be trusted with anything, let alone deadly force.
I fail to see how some kid, untrustworthy today, can attend a police academy for a couple of weeks and instantly become the world’s greatest authority on the use of deadly force. Yesterday he wore ripped jeans and was eyed with suspicion but today he is the only guy in town who can be trusted with a loaded gun. Having never attended a police academy, I’m speculating here but I don’t believe the entire curriculum is dedicated to the issue of deadly force and its employment.
There are millions of military vets, firearms instructors and just plain good folks out there who certain can, and should, carry private arms. The only solution to a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. Period.
As for school protection, I vote for armed custodians. From first light until the girl’s basketball team goes home at oh-dark-30, there is always a custodian on school premises. Many are veterans and many push around those big carts full of cleaning supplies that could easily hold a .45 ACP with a few extra mags in a lock-box.
As for arming teachers, forget it. Their politics often suck. Think Bill Ayers.
Read your post on The Battle of Athens. Most interesting! Thanks for posting!
Why do you think the Feds are trying to take the guns away from GIs and combat vets? This is exactly what those in the District of Criminals are scared of.
While never being able to stomach that garbage, I am still aware of the social significance. I however stand by my statement that dillweed actually has a use and purpose, the others do not. perhaps now a socially relevant comment from The Simpsons or Dumb and Dumber?
I have never had to shoot anyone, but over the course of my life (I am 74), I have had to “show” my weapon seven times to prevent possible injury or death to me or my loved ones.
Not one of the “incidents” was reported, because immediately upon showing my weapon, the perps backed off.
Ask me if I believe in the Second Amendment!
Oh?
About 3,300 future American citizens will be killed by CHOICE today.
Civilians are sitting on their hands; letting this occur.
