Poll on Armed, Trained, Teachers
Ammoland ^ | 10 October, 2015 | Dean Weingarten

Posted on 10/10/2015 12:44:31 PM PDT by marktwain

ABC11 is running a poll to gauge whether people think armed, trained, teachers should be allowed to protect students.  They have framed the question as an all or nothing choice between all teachers being armed and none.   The people voting on the poll are not buying it, and are voting for armed teachers almost 2-1.

Here is a link to the poll.  It is a down on the bottom of the article.

The article is about a North Carolina father petitioning the local school to allow select and trained teachers to protect children.

Wrenn’s proposal says “any administrator or teacher that has met all certifications and background checks will be allowed to have a board approved handgun that will be stored in a mounted and hardened cabinet. The cabinet can only be accessed with a fingerprint reader that will only work for that person.”

So, what happens when a Muslim teacher gets the training and goes nuts in his own classroom?

Or, more to the point, what kind of vetting do the armed teachers get?

it should be illegal for any taxpayer funded place to be “gun free”.

They get vetted by the school administration.

What would stop an Muslim teacher from doing what you suggest, now? Nothing, really.

Not the teachers, the janitorial staff.

Most “teachers” I know (that my wife knows - who IS a teacher!) and have spent time do not have the mental attitude required to be armed.

There ARE exceptions, but many should be free to decide they do NOT want a gun assigned them.

But to forbid EVERY teacher from carrying a weapon - THEN advertising that fact to EVERYBODY?

I'm not that big on teachers carrying in the classroom, even if well trained. Many inner-city classrooms are barely controlled chaos. Even if the weapons are locked up (which negates the purpose), some students could get access by violent means. I'd rather see every school hire at least 2 well-trained guards who roam...preferably ex-military or ex-LEO, AND take down their stupid "Gun Free Zone" signs.

Oh wait, Hellery says that is illogical. Nevermind.

in every school there are employees who have already been vetted, and own their own guns. if you encourage them to carry concealed,an potential shooter will not know where the opposition will come from, meaning they can’t take out the armed people first.

There are 4-5 female teachers in my CAS club. They all have CHPs and I would hate to have any of them shooting at me.

A friend suggested I get certified as a substitute band director/music teacher. I haven’t looked into it, but you bet I would be armed. If they don’t know, what’s the problem?
