Next man up? House GOP pushes reluctant Ryan to seek Speaker's chair
Fox News ^ | October 09, 2015 | Fox News

Since House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., shocked his congressional colleagues early Thursday by withdrawing his name from consideration to replace John Boehner, R-Ohio, as Speaker of the House, Republicans have launched a relentless press aimed at convincing House Ways and Means Committee chair Paul Ryan, R-Wis., to put himself forward for the job.

Fox News has learned that Boehner himself is imploring Ryan, Mitt Romney's running mate on the 2012 Republican presidential ticket, to put himself forward for the top job in the House, largely because Ryan is one of the few unifying figures in the House Republican Conference.

He’s certainly not going to “unite” me back with the Republican Party.

I remember his “Ryan Capitulation Budget” fresh off the loss of a miserably pitiful campaign with Mitt. He caused my Congressman to vote right along with John Lewis and Hank Johnson (Democrats) on it.

He’s sh!t in my book right along with my congressman.

I want to know where all our Conservative leaders are in the House, and why they aren't stepping up to take command after knocking out the king???? During their campaigns and in their weekly update literature, they call claim to be such great leaders, but all I'm seeing right now are a bunch of shirkers. Where's Jim Jordan? Max Meadows? Steve King? Louis Gohmert?

At this point, if none of them are willing to step forward, then they might as well bring back Newt Gingrich.

Apparently, “unifying” has a new meaning.

He’d seem like a choice if there weren’t the baggage of his dalliance plus the baggage of him sitting on the couch with Pelosi.....frankly, he’s not my kind of conservative any more. He seems to me more of the pragmatic sort of Republican who leans conservative sometimes, but willing to go-along, get-along.

Lastly, when he resigned his seat and Speakership, he didn’t come home to Georgia - he stayed in DC (Virginia IIRC) and been there ever since. That speaks VOLUMES to me.

OH BOY! Are you kidding me....Ryan?

It seems like the establishment Republicans have a single line of thought...to protect what’s theirs no matter what.

My hate for Ryan cannot be over stressed. Just the sight of him makes the hairs on the back of my neck rise.

However, he is the poster boy (or pajama boy) for the establishment country club RINOs.

Ryan would be the end of the road with me and republicans. Is this really the best republicans have to offer?

He was Biden’s little bitch that night.

We had a lot of spin from the GOPe that Ryan won that debate. It was laughable. Crazy Joe handed Ryan his ass.
