In the Dept of Defense, any contractor (example: Lockheed to name one of the biggest) must use stringent safeguards to insure that any computer, server, network etc. that contains or transmits classified information has an adequate level of protection, which is reviewed and periodically inspected by DOd.

I’m certain the State dept. has the same requriements

The contractors that had hillary’s servers did not meet the required standards as far as i know. This is a major violation.

THIS HAS CRIMINAL IMPLICATIONS A cabinet-level government employee using their own server and personal e-mail exclusively is unheard of.

<><> the US govt tech system is really fussy——particularly about emails from the US State Dept.

<><> a govt official (particularly the Secy of State) cannot simply buy a brand new computer with licenses and programs and expect to have it certified.

<><> US govt officials are required to have a government-purchased computer, set up by the govt, utilizing a CACC card cleared technician.

<><> a high government official (particularly the Secy of State) to utilize day to day a non-government computer for communications in the performance of their job is in violation of security laws in dozens of ways.

<><> whether marked as such, all emails emanating from Hillary’s private server are classified ntl security data.

It is considered a crime for ex-govt employees to possess ntl security emails. All ntl security material belongs to the American people and is to be turned over upon termination of employment.

Ntl security info transferred from the State Dept and stored in The Clinton Foundation server is an atrocity.

Government contractors doing work for the government are governed by NISPOM - National Information Security Program Objective Memorandum - guidelines for handling and securing classified information and is managed/overseen by the Defense Security Service. Official agencies of the government are not, and have their own guidelines, and in my experience are sometimes more lax in their stewardship.

But they all have one thing in common - networks set up specifically to handle classified information (e.g., SIPRNET or others for higher level classifications). These are NOT open internetbased email systems without a physical layer hardware encryption.

Hillary’s contractors were most likely (I’d say definitely) not even cleared to handle or transmit classified information - they probably never heard of NISPOM or DSS.

What has happened here is a serious breach of Federal Law committed through grossly negligent behavior or by outright criminal intent by an employee (or former employee) of the US Government.

They don’t need to “investigate” e-mail security - it is automatically considered to be unsecure on its face for classified information. This aspect of the news is total BS and diversionary, IMO.
