A man who tips the scale at close to 800 pounds says he has nowhere to go after being kicked out of a hospital weight loss program for ordering pizza.
Now he rides in the back of an SUV while his father drives the roads of Rhode Island, looking for someone who can help.
Steven Assanti, 33, said his eating addiction has led him to this place, living in the back of his dad's SUV with nowhere else to go.
For the past 80 days, Assanti was getting the help he needed in a Rhode Island hospital where he lost 20 pounds. But ordering pizza violated the care plan, and the hospital told him he had to leave.

80 days and he only lost 20 pounds?
no sympathy here.
20lbs in 80 days isn’t really great. Either he gets some bariatric surgery or he isn’t going to be around much longer.
I’m thinking that wasn’t the first pizza he ordered during his stay.
Gotta keep the pizza houses operating, dontcha’ know?
Sometimes it seems humans are nothing more than an amalgam of neurosis and addictions.
No,you're just a fat tub of lard spending too much time at the bakery and not enough on a treadmill.

How about he follows behind the SUV?
Enablers who shop, cook & feed him contribute to this “disease.” Self control.
Time for dad to park his SUV, and leave for the shores of Miami Beach, and let this LUNK of LARD figure out what he is going to do. Going hungry for 40 days would be a start, he has enough fat he wouldn;t die.
you found a place but you blew it
Assanti's father says taking his son home will be a death sentence, because he'll just fall back into the habits of lying in bed and eating. So the two men say they will continue to drive around until they can find a place to help.
listen stooopid, QUIT FEEDING HIS FAT AZZ and he'll lose weight!!!
no pity for the lazy...
Im thinking that wasnt the first pizza he ordered during his stay.
OR, donuts, ice cream and a dozen or so hamburgers.
You must take responsibility for your own actions.
I wonder who was paying for those 80 days.
My first thought, too. I can lose 20 lbs. in 6 weeks, and I only weight 130-ish to start with.
My SIL is a BIG man. Even he got to only 400 lbs and all the sickness that goes with it, heart, diabetes, etc before he chose Bariatric surgery. He’s lost 200 lbs and now weighs where he should for his size.
Only ENABLERS get a person to be 800 lbs and no will power.
No sympathy from me. Learn to eat less, it’s how others control their weight. Ditto goes for the Booze addicted which includes my only brother. He sends a cab to pick it up for him as he is now a invalid.
And while in a hospital? Is any of the hospital staff missing?
We live in strange times. ;)
I ate a baby!
When you're 800lbs and under a medically-supervised weight loss program, only losing 20lbs in 80 days is quite the under-performance.
Three years ago I was a pound or two shy of 300lbs. After one week of Weight Watchers, I was down by 9. And that was without starving, eating sensible portions of good-tasting food.
Sounds like there's a serious effort deficit going on here...
