America’s Gun Madness, as Seen From Europe
NY Times ^ | OCT. 7, 2015 | MIRA KAMDAR

PANTIN, France — My mother lives near Roseburg, Ore. Her part of the world isn’t often in the news in France. But when I woke up last Friday morning, the mass shooting on the Umpqua Community College campus in Roseburg had made the French morning television news. There was video of a landscape I know well, of distressed local citizens, and of President Obama delivering his solemn remarks.

Viewed from France, everything about the United States looms large. Still, the numbers the newscasters ticked off — more than 300 million guns in circulation, mass shootings occurring at a rate of nearly one per day, thousands of victims of gun-related deaths — were shocking in their magnitude.

Guns are highly regulated in France. Hunting is a popular sport, but a hunting license is required before a rifle can be purchased. Guns can be bought for use at firing ranges, but only after an application has been filed and approved by the police. All gun buyers must provide a medical certificate of mental and physical fitness to own a weapon, and all guns must be registered. It is illegal to possess military-grade weapons. That the Oregon shooter, Christopher Harper-Mercer, was equipped with five handguns, a semiautomatic pistol and several magazines of ammunition — all purchased legally — is unimaginable here.

*

Terrorists in Europe typically obtain their weapons illegally, and arms trafficking, a serious problem, is growing worse. In 2012, France increased fines and jail terms for possession and trafficking of illegal guns, but it’s unclear if that has had much effect.

So what’s new. Europe has never understood our freedoms or our guns. That’s why we’re America and they’re...not.

How is the Mood about this Massacre in Germany Lucy?

Is the attitude the same in France or do they have bigger problems?

Don’t forget about the Unarmed Police Officer who rolled up on the scene. After the Muzzie shot him from across the street, the Rat Bastard walked up and executed the Cop with two more shots.

On a different note, I still remember the guy that recorded the Two Boston Bombers having a shootout with the Boston P.D. in the middle of the Street from his fourth floor Window on his iPhone.

The Jihadist scum were in full view from the guys window, and he recorded it on Video while cowering in fear.

I guess it’s just me, but if I were in that spot I would have opened the Gun Cabinet, chose the appropriate Weapon and picked off the two scum before they even realized what happened to them.

Then again, it was Boston and I probably would have ended up being sent to Prison. Welcome to Hopey Changey America.

The muzzies will be armed while the Frenchies will be issued white sheets for surrendering when the time comes.

Over here we laughed at the video of the unarmed police running from the terrorists.

I think more of us cried... Especially when the one French policeman was executed.

“Guns Are Highly Regulated in France.”

Yet the muzzie attackers of Charlie Hebdo had no problem getting plenty of them.

Then there was the foiled attack on the Amsterdam to Paris train.

Contrast that with our view of the emasculated wimps in Europe, and in particular, the French surrender-monkeys...

This is the same Europe that profited from the Marshall Plan. Without the USA in 1945, there would not have been a Europe today with their months-long vacations and social goodies. You Euroweenies, better take your vacations ASAP because you won’t be able to carry them over when the muzzies will be your bosses.

A blood stained continent such as Europe, with it’s many wars over the centuries, should not be looking down their noses at America.

Reminds me of the old full page adds in US magazines back in 1940.

PLEASE SEND A GUN TO DEFEND A BRITISH HOME!

If the Germans had tried to invade after Dunkirk the Brits would have met them on the beaches armed with those traditional English weapons, the Assault Pitchfork, hay rake and garden hoe!

These are the guys who kicked out the hated colonists from Akrica. But now that they are ‘free’ they want to move to the country of their former ‘slavemasters’.

I imagine Mira Kamdar wet herself, and pooted her panties, in preparation for this article.

Perhaps we should dump off young Mira in the middle of an ISIS-controlled city, so she could get her mind right...

Europe does not suck — it’s the people who occupy that beautiful continent that suck. Y’all better learn to say ‘Allah Akhbar’ loud and clear. But you already know how to do that, don’t you?
(sheesh, I do hope that this dumb nation, that elected Obama twice, learns from what is happening in Europe)

One source - where he takes the raw data put out on many sites (which I found first) but then he turns it into per capita numbers.

“In places like Roseburg, guns are a part of the culture.”

O’Reilly was talking with some guy (newspaper guy?) from Roseburg.

Bill: “Okay - but what about this stash of what - 16 guns in a one-bedroom apartment.”

Guy: “Um - I’m not sure what you are trying to get to by calling it a stash - that seems inflammatory. But if you are talking about the number of weapons - that would not be unreasonable for many of the people that live in Roseburg.”
