Jones Warns Candidates to Drop Out of Race if Moral Turpitude Issues in Personal Lives Emerge
Breitbart ^ | 10/7/2015 | Patrick Howley

Republican North Carolina Rep. Walter Jones (R-NC) is urging all candidates for Speaker of the House to drop out of the race if skeletons in their closet might embarrass the Republican Party.

Jones sent a letter Wednesday to Republican Conference chairman Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) issuing a challenge to House Speaker candidates Reps. Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT), and Rep. Daniel Webster (R-FL).

“Some of the most difficult times have been when our Republican leaders or potential Republican leaders must step down because of skeletons in their closets,” Jones wrote. “We’ve seen it with former Speaker Newt Gingrich and Rep. Bob Livingston, who ran for Speaker in 1998.”

“With all the voter distrust of Washington felt around the country, I’m asking that any candidate for Speaker of the House, majority leader, and majority whip withdraw himself from the leadership election if there are any misdeeds he has committed since joining Congress that will embarrass himself, the Republican Conference, and the House of Representatives if they become public,” Jones wrote.

Jones’ reference to Bob Livingston makes clear that he thinks adultery should be one of the disqualifying skeletons in the race. Livingston withdrew from the Speaker’s race after Hustler magazine publisher Larry Flynt put out an open call for stories about Republican lawmakers cheating on their wives.

I wonder way the caveat re joining Congress.

Because that aims the statement directly at McCarthy without explicitly saying so.

Law enforcement agencies DO NOT like people who think for themselves or question authority. To me, being rejected by the Secret Service means nothing; and may even be a positive.

We don't know why he was rejected and why the Secret Service considers it to be embarrassing. There may be something in the Chaffetz file that is embarrassing beyond just being rejected for employment,

The fact that his file was circulated within the agency to over 60 fairly high placed agents around the country and the WP is an indication that there is damaging information in his file beyond just the fact that he was turned down. One would hope Chaffetz would disclose any damaging information to at least his Congressional colleagues before the vote on who will be Speaker.

What is missing from all of this is a lack of real outrage from Congress on the behavior the Secret Service. There should be mass firings and possible prison terms for what happened. It is similar to the abuse of power by the IRS, which used personal, confidential information in a partisan way. Obama and Jeh Johnson should be leading the charge on getting to the bottom of it. No doubt they won't and they probably know what is in the file. They could use it to their advantage politically. Perhaps blackmail can explain the odd behavior of Boehner, McConnell, and Justice Roberts.

We are witnessing deep-seated corruption in our government similar to a banana republic. The information that the government has on individuals in this country is immense. In the wrong hands, it can undermine our Republic. I wonder if the muted reaction from Congress is from fear that they too are vulnerable to such pressures. The Chaffetz case should be a much bigger news story. It is the dog that didn't bark.

I don't know Walter Jones, but I like his sense of humor. The House has to elect a Speaker because its a constitutional office. So, let's see, we're looking for a politician who hasn't committed any acts of moral turpitude? Where to begin . . .

What's Carson even doing in the race???? Carson's got NOTHING. Nothing but the rep of being a nice guy and being known for cute little remarks/jokes. What's he going to do with Isis? Tell them cute little joke and beg them ('please, with sugar on it, don't slaughter any more Christians') not to chop off any more Christian heads? We need a steam roller like Trump to slap down the sorry RINOs and clean up the mess Omuslim made. I'd vote a Trump/Allen West ticket, but CARSON IS NO ALLEN WEST!!

Well, that doesn’t apply to McCarthy. He is a member of the GOPe (Uni-Party), not a Conservative.

Adultry is a resume enhancer for him.
