Dilbert Creator Scott Adams on Donald Trump's "Linguistic Kill Shots"
Reason Magazine ^ | October 6, 2015 | Justin Monticello & Zach Weissmueller

Posted on 10/06/2015 3:46:24 PM PDT by EveningStar

Donald Trump has a way with words—and with people. Yet despite his popularity, he has been a mystery to the media, which have mostly derided his campaign as consisting of nothing more than random insults and ignorant bluster.

Scott Adams, prolific author, blogger, and creator of the massively popular comic strip Dilbert, has a different theory. He tells Reason TV's Zach Weissmueller that the media are being trolled by a skilled manipulator, or in Adams's parlance, a Master Wizard. So exquisite does Adams believe Trump's skills to be that he predicts The Donald will go on to win the presidency.

I wouldn’t call it wizardry. Talent maybe.

“Hypnosis class?” Adams needs to go to “funny class.”

The humor went out of his comic strip long ago...happened when Adams started taking himself seriously and actually thought he knew something.

You didn’t find it at least mildly amusing?

>>I have been saying this to friends for several months. But I add that he is also an ‘entertainer’ which in this age of ‘bread and circuses’ will win the masses.

History is tough, but there is the internet to make it easier.

For those of us who were around in the 1980’s, Trump was a wealthy real estate developer who had sizable following long before the first season of “The Apprentice” ever aired. When I was serving on a submarine in the mid-80’s, his book, “The Art of the Deal” was very popular among those of us who weren’t planning to go beyond our current enlistment.

It is intellectually lazy to dismiss him as an “entertainer”.

Me too. Sometimes it is like living with the cat cartoon where the cat swipes/slices and turns away then the victim falls to pieces accordion style.

"It is intellectually lazy to dismiss him as an “entertainer”.

He is also very good at that.

In fact, his "propaganda" and rhetorical skills exceeds that of Adolf Hitler.

Good. America needs a leader who can talk to a media-saturated population who have the attention spans of fruit flies.

Hint: Hitler’s speaking skills are not the reason we don’t like Hitler. Has Trump promised to eradicate any races or genetic groups? Did I miss the chapter in “The Art of the Deal” where he said that America needs to get rid of any “parasite races” who are American citizens so “real” Americans can have some living space?

So Scott Adams might say that Trump is in the “Catbert” seat.

Well, well. Anyone read the stuff I posted about Trump over the past two months? I didn't use the term "linguistic kill shot," but pretty much I discussed many of these techniques over the last two months.

It's nice to hear Scott Adams elaborate, because it really, really exposes why the NRO guys are so damned angry with Trump. He is using new verbal techniques to embarrass them. It is also why he connects on a level that no one else does---or will.

"America needs a leader who can talk to a media-saturated population who have the attention spans of fruit flies"

He's that adept.

He really is a Master of Communication.

I've not seen anything like it in my lifetime...I have only read about the really, really accomplished ones.

And Trump can reach 100 million people in less than a second.

New World. And nobody knows what it's going to be.

1) Did you watch the video? He answers that. He calls it "linguistic jiu jitsu."

2) Did you see him on Fallon? Terrific. Just rolled with everything.

3) Cruz in a totally different dimension, and based on this video, I can see why Ted's numbers are single digits.

Today I tweeted, borrowing from Rush, that “Trump was living rent free in Marco’s head.” It is by far the MOST retweeted post I have ever gotten and is STILL going strong since this morning. So, yeah, there is imagery to it.

You were a submariner? I wrote a book on the Trident program. SSBNs or SSNs?

Obviously the proof of the pudding will be not only can he get elected, but, if elected, can he use that talent to go over the heads of a recalcitrant obstructing congress (regardless of whether it’s Dem or GOP) to get stuff done.

What happens when the tables get turned on him? Trump’s not exactly a hard figure to lampoon.

Trump deflects like a master. He has been lampooned for decades and he uses it to his advantage.
