More than 35,000 people have signed a petition calling for the cast of Maze Runner to apologize to the Native American people for stealing Pueblo artifacts while filming in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
It comes after one of the sequel's stars, Dylan O'Brien of Teen Wolf fame, jokingly admitted to pinching rocks and skulls from the Diamond Trail despite being warned not to.
His throw-away comment has sparked online outrage - and 20th Century Fox producers are 'very upset and very embarrassed' by the situation, Daily Mail Online has learned.
Now, the production team has launched an internal investigation to find out what happened, track down any stolen items, and issue a groveling apology or compensation to the site's owners, Diamond Trail director Roch Hart told Daily Mail Online.

Pilfering graves is not OK and has zero to do with PC.
My wife is Mescalero Apache (and Catholic and a medical doctor), and some asshat robbed her great grandmother’s grave (which was a normal grave with a tombstone and casket) to get to the ceremonial items she was buried with.
There’s a huge market for this stuff, and it’s just BS.
This is not archaeology. The Pueblo graves in question are less than 200 years old and the family probably lives nearby.
