Gov. Andrew Cuomo called on the federal government to protect New York’s borders by enacting a gun control law that will keep weapons from entering the state.
ALBANY — Rather than trying to protect the country’s borders to keep Mexicans out, Gov. Cuomo on Monday called on the federal government to protect the state’s borders by enacting a gun control law that will keep weapons from entering New York from other states.
“They're so worried about the border with Mexico, worry about my state borders,” Cuomo said during an appearance on WNYC radio’s “The Brian Lehrer Show.” “I'm not worried about Mexicans coming over my border. I'm worried about assault weapons coming over my border.
“If you want to protect borders, start by protecting the borders of states and respect their gun laws, which this federal government and the (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms) have been all but wholly absent on.”
Cuomo made the comments when asked about criticism that New York City has seen gun crimes go up this year even after the state enacted a tough new gun law in 2013 in the aftermath of the Newtown, Conn., school shootings, even though the NYPD said it was the safest summer in years.

So Cuomo doesn’t care about borders between the US and other countries, but wants to enact borders between NY State and other states. Imagine if every state wants to do that! Each state would essentially become its own country. Which of course would mean that each state might want to take over those borders, and THEY might want then to keep illegal immigrants out of their state. Thank you Cuomo for that idea!
If guns could vote ‘Democrat’, Cuomo would look the other way!
He should be much more concerned about New Yorkers leaving New York.
This is really an admission of failure of his term as guv in that crime has increased.

Whenever I went into New York while living in PA, I used to think New York was totally nuts....now of course, we have no reason to doubt any of it...
