The person who tells me that the 100% know precisely what the global temperature was in the pre industrial age is simply lying.

The person who says he has confidence that we can know what the global temperature was, to within a small fraction of a degree, thirty years ago (when the majority of measurements were taken by a human going out to a shed, squinting at a mercury thermometer and writing down what he thinks it says), is a liar or a fool.
