Say what you will about rescue dogs and cats. They make the best pets. They know what their situation is and what they feel when they have a home again.
I totally agree. They know exactly what's happening in their lives, and they deeply appreciate being adopted into a forever home.
So true. We had one that became the staunch defender of our property for many years. When we first got her, she would roll over on her back and whimper if I raised my hand for any reason. She had been beaten terribly before we got her.
Once in our home, she found a life she obviously had never had before and, as I said, became the most proactive defender of our yard that could be imagined. The cattle on the ranch beside of us knew to not stick their noses into our yard for vegetation or she would get them. Quite hilarious to watch. She would continually bring rabbits, birds, snakes, etc. to the back door to show us what she had caught trespassing that day.

Picky about what she pokes in her piehole; only wants “treats” most of the time. Is rather unruly sort of.
DUBBERS is a good dog. Big. Took responsibility for our
old gal, DIXIE, until she died at 15 yrs. old. Now she
feels responsible for BRUTUS; but BRUTUS is a ASS!
