So true. We had one that became the staunch defender of our property for many years. When we first got her, she would roll over on her back and whimper if I raised my hand for any reason. She had been beaten terribly before we got her.

Once in our home, she found a life she obviously had never had before and, as I said, became the most proactive defender of our yard that could be imagined. The cattle on the ranch beside of us knew to not stick their noses into our yard for vegetation or she would get them. Quite hilarious to watch. She would continually bring rabbits, birds, snakes, etc. to the back door to show us what she had caught trespassing that day.

Cute. When home I volunteer at a rescue center. Some of the animals there know me and are happy to see me show up. They also have several pigs, a bull, rabbits and llamas. There are also birds and reptiles. It’s a great place.
