Colt is a self-inflicted injury.

They ignore me (the civilian market) for years, and then lost military contracts. The results should not surprise anyone.

I will never buy a Colt.

We bought two1911 pistols this year. Both are Kimbers. I bought the wife an AR. It’s a Rock River.

Sorry, Colt.

When Colt became part of a conglomerate, it became a cow to be milked until the cow couldn't produce enough milk to suit the shareholders… after which the (depleted) cow was sold. Repeat until the cow is fit only for the rendering plant. Inept managing, labor intransigence and a couple of disastrous new handgun designs all helped to dry up the bovine.

The current crop of Colt ARs is of good quality, but they po'd too many people for almost 30 years to get back the market share they should have never lost. OTOH, if you want to come as close to the "real thing" as you can, for many people there is still nothing quite like a pony, be it on an AR or a SAA.
