An American Airlines pilot became incapacitated and later died during an early red-eye flight from Phoenix to Boston on Monday. The company has yet to release the pilot's name or details on what caused his death. The plane's co-pilot took over the controls of the Airbus A320 and safely landed the 147-passenger flight in Syracuse around 7AM ET in an emergency attempt to get the pilot medical attention. The flight originally departed shortly after midnight on Monday.

You might not think it’s YOUR day to die, but if you’re on that plane and it’s the PILOT’S day to die, you’re going along for the ride!
Glad this had a more positive outcome!
And this is why we always have a co-pilot.
Now you just watch how some bureaucrat launches an “investigation” into how we examine commercial pilots! Sometimes the unexpected does happen!
I read heart attack on another site.
And one of the FAs was a nurse and did CPR till they got on the ground.
RIP Capt.
He really did leave the surly bonds of earth......
Wondering if pressurization has a deleterious effect at times on the health especially the cardiovascular system.
DVT clots can occur on long flights. Could be unrelated as well.
Better to have a heart attack flying IN to Boston.....(rimshot)
If the Capt has a “Celebration of life” instead of a somber funeral, Otto might just be there. The Capt literally died with his boots on, doing what he really loved.

RIP. Glad everybody arrived safely otherwise.
How awful for those who loved him!
Rest in peace, Captain.
Prayers for his soul and for his family.
Probably killed by “white privilege”.
Did he eat the fish?

LOL! My Dad always said that one, too. :)
