Pariss day without cars last week led to such a dramatic drop in both air and noise pollution that the mayors office is now planning more vehicle-free days in the French capital. Airparif, which measures city pollution levels, said levels of nitrogen dioxide dropped by up to 40% in parts of the city on Sunday 27 September... Najdovski, a member of the Europe Ecology-Green (EELV) party, admitted he was disappointed that only one third of Paris was handed over to pedestrians and cyclists on 27 September... added: My dream Paris would be a city without cars.

Does this include public transportation? Delivery vehicles? I would be interested to learn what effect this had on productivity.
They’ll be overjoyed when the planet is free of those awful human beings.
They’re just conditioning the masses to accept the outlawing of cars for all except the elites.

The businesses at either end of the route might get good business from people who end their biking there and have some food and drink.
However, all of the other businesses along the route seem to get hosed as it is difficult for people to get there by car.
Only electric cars allowed.
When I used to live in NYC, the air the first thing in the morning was fresh and clear--often with a sea breeze scent to it.
But by mid-afternoon, it was filthy and sometimes visible to the naked eye.
Even weekend air is much better than that of a busy weekday.

I’ve read that France is a very nice place with very nice people if you exclude Paris.
I’d bet that retail sales were way down. Lots of sales of day-old bread on the 28th, I’d wager.
What about the economy - how did that fare?
Parts of Houston are doing the same thing on Sunday. It’s a “get to know your neighborhood” thing pushed by the liberal, gay mayor. Notice that they haven’t included any of Sheila Jackson Lee’s areas yet though. So glad I don’t live in the city any more.
