"Neighbors at a sprawling apartment complex in Torrance said they thought it was odd when a few years ago they saw Chris Harper Mercer and his mother carrying black cases that the neighbors suspected held firearms....." - Source

"ROSEBURG, Ore. — Christopher Harper-Mercer was withdrawn and quiet as he grew up in southern California, spending most of his time indoors at his mother’s apartment and deflecting neighbors when they asked him how he was doing, or why he always wore the same outfit of combat boots and green Army pants. But there was one subject that got him to open up: guns.

Mr. Harper-Mercer collected handguns and rifles, and he regularly went to a shooting range with his mother, said neighbors in Torrance, Calif., where the two lived until moving to Oregon in 2013. At a barbecue shortly before they left, Mr. Harper-Mercer spent hours talking with a next-door neighbor about guns and how he and his mother were excited to leave Los Angeles and get a fresh start.

“When we talked about guns and hunting, he was real open about it,” said the neighbor, Louie Flores, 32. “But anything about what was going on in his life, he really didn’t say too much at all.”......... - Source

“Odd” they are hiding the mother. Why does the media not want to talk to the person closest to the killer?

It is strange how this life story is almost the same as the guy guilty of the Sandy Hook massacre - living with his mother, who helps him amass an arsenal of guns. Except the Sandy Hook guy allegedly killed his mother before going on a shooting spree. (I have a lot of questions about the Sandy Hook incident, but don’t want to air that here.)

Mr. Brown Sugar should be more concerned about raising a mentally ill son. Did the boy take after the father?

Oregon Shooter’s Father Calls for Gun Control

Dad, I think you should have exercised a little more son control.

He has never held gun, never wants to. . . .

Same here. I have never owned, held, or fired a gun, and I hope I never have to. But I do not want my Second Amendment rights infringed upon, in case I ever do need to.

Father: How could that happen?

I blame the shooter and his enabling parents. That means you dad.

So, because his kid is evil, Satanic murderer, I should pay the price by having my right to protect myself and my family infringed? I don't think so. That strikes me as capitulation to murderers and bullies.

Mother was 9 years older than dad. It appears that she also wore the pants.

They already were in a gun free zone. Gun control laws don’t work.

In Mexico, when guns were so difficult to obtain, they simply used machetes and decapitated their victims.

The issue of murder originates in the heart. Until the soul is sanctified, those who entertain such thoughts will further degenerate.

More liberal “logic”.

If a person who ran his car into a crowd and murdered some, would we later fret that because this person had been “allowed” to “amass” a garage full of cars that he was surely a dangerous person?

In this case, the mass murder was possible because this man had been allowed to amass (notice the pejoratives) over a dozen firearms? How can the quantity of firearms in the closet imply anything with respect to wanting to murder or not murder? It appears that he only chose to carry four of them to the college. It remains to be seen how many were actually used.

This is clearly another case of the failure of the law against murder to work. Liberals just cannot accept that government has limited ability to control human nature.

He should get together with Andy Parker, Richard Martinez and the despicable Tom Mauser, who has made a very good living off of pimping his dead kid.

They can call it 'Dads for Sensible Gun Laws', or some such silliness. Guess I shouldn't give them any ideas...

So, here we have a young man who became capable of engaging with another human being, in the form of asking the question “what is your religion?”...and then upon getting a particular answer, taking his life.

What contribution did the possession of a gun contribute to the murderer’s mental condition? I’d say if all guns were indeed out of the equation, that this is a man who would simply figure out another way to kill.

Until there is an event like this at a gun show, a gun range, or an NRA meeting, I’m going to conclude that guns only play a role as a deterrent. The cause has nothing to do with the implement that is used. A bomb, a chemical weapon, or a machete would become just as lethal, if not more so, in the absence of a gun.

If we must blame, and yes, blame plays a role here, then we must look at how the perpetrator’s brain came to acquire the visceral hatred of
Christians. How was this enabled? Who played a role in devaluing life in general, and that of Christians specifically?

I’ll bet people on this forum could name a few, and that might be a more worthwhile conversation than the one about the implements used in these crimes.

Lets see what is wrong with this picture? The mom and child moved to Oregon in 2013, when he was 24. If my parents moved at 24, and I was in the basement, my parents would have told me "Bye, son. We are downsizing."

Another great job of parenting by LIBERALS. Nice job, liberals!!
