It is strange how this life story is almost the same as the guy guilty of the Sandy Hook massacre - living with his mother, who helps him amass an arsenal of guns. Except the Sandy Hook guy allegedly killed his mother before going on a shooting spree. (I have a lot of questions about the Sandy Hook incident, but don’t want to air that here.)

".......Mercer revealed he had last seen his son before Harper-Mercer moved to Oregon in 2013, and said they had had a 'harmonious' relationship.

'There isn't any kind of disharmony or bitterness between he and I,' Mercer said. 'When he was down here we went to dinner, did things sons and dads do. He lived with his mother the whole time.'

But Mercer would not comment on the mental health of his son, saying that he believes police will determine that in their investigations." Source

Amen, and I agree

My question TODAY is;

How come we heard nothing but "he's down", "target is exterminated" and "brief shootout followed" ... for a full two plus days and it's suddenly changed to "he took his own life" ?

Was there so much gunsmoke the SWAT guys could't see through the eleventeen thousand rounds pumped towards the general direction of what the KNEW was the shooter, AND ... were they such bad shots, the shooter had time to assess the situation and take himself out ?
