Why Obama Is Powerless To Reform Gun Laws (Its The 2nd Amendment, Stupid Alert)
BBC News ^ | 10/03/2015 | Anthony Zurcher

Posted on 10/03/2015 7:55:49 PM PDT by goldstategop

And those victorious Republican candidates are selected in primaries where the financial support of deep-pocketed pro-gun lobbying groups like the National Rifle Association can prove decisive and the voters who turn out are the kind of conservatives who don't take kindly to a candidate in favour of greater restrictions on gun ownership.

It's a political environment where Republican officeholders face grassroot challenges if they're deemed insufficiently conservative but never if they're not moderate enough.

Congress isn't just against high-profile gun regulation - even measures supported by a large majority of the American people - it also prohibits federal efforts to conduct research on the causes of gun violence. So what's the way forward?

"This is a political choice that we make to allow this to happen every few months in America," Mr Obama said in Thursday's press conference. "If you think this is a problem, then you should expect your elected officials to reflect your views."

uring the 2014 mid-term elections, just 36% of eligible voters went to the polls. And more of them, at least in states and congressional districts where it counts, voted for Republican candidates picked in primaries by just 9.5% of US registered voters.

In the US today, it's the gun-control views of that 9.5% that make the difference.

The article is notable for NOT mentioning the Second Amendment. A BBC reporter who has lived in the United States should at least acknowledge the RKBA is constitutionally protected, as affirmed by the US Supreme Court.

Zurcher thinks Obama is blocked by conservative pro-gun Republicans from getting his way. The truth is that the Constitution prevents popular majorities from infringing on fundamental freedoms.

If a majority of the American people wanted to take them away, it would be legally, factually and morally irrelevant.

America, thank God, isn't the UK.

The constitution works as long as leaders and the people recognize it and enforce it.

We have to now have laws to protect citizens for defending themselve in their homes from government that is acting ilegally under color of law.

Govt uses eminent domain to take peoples property to give to other private folks because their tax base might get larger.

We are harassed by bureaucrats at an ever increasing amount of levels.

If they ignore the laws we will folow their precedent too and we’ll see who comes out victorious.

Obama needs just one out of the five SCOTUS any time he wants to ignore laws or the Constitution. The other four are an automatic rubber stamp ruling for tyranny.

“... it also prohibits federal efforts to conduct research on the causes of gun violence.”

Here’s some quick unscientific and unauthorized common sense research on identifying the shooters:

18-30 year old
Lives with or “mommy dependent”
No personality
No girlfriend
Parents are rabid Democrats/Progressives
Live in or come from blue states
Social life is limited to computer social networks/games
Has mental health issues covered up by “mommy”
No job or limited low paying intermittent jobs
Acquaintances describe them as quiet/isolated

Trump knows all about that.

The political grandstanding of liberal politicians ignores the fact our law enforcement can only do so much in the face of sickening violence.

And one can make a good case that if they’re unpopular now with certain quarters of society, imagine how unpopular they would become if impressed into the gun confiscation business.

In a free society, we can’t expect to police people; people have to act like members of society.

No gun control law is going to change that fact of life.

Defending oneself against tyranny isn’t just a 2nd Amendment right...it’s a God-given right.

Apparently something the Brits STILL don’t get...

https://www.insidehighered.com/news/2013/01/17/obama-authorizes-federal-research-gun-violence

As can be seen by the article, the Congress can refuse to fund anything they don’t think should be funded. Federal research funds aren’t supposed to be spent advocating political positions. Barry knows better, but he pretends he doesn’t.

It’s too bad John Boehner didn’t place his duty to the American people above his felt duty to the “institution”: the House of Representatives, and he might still be weeping quietly at his desk after this month.
There are a lot more things we don’t and should not fund, for example, anything with the word “trans-gendered” in the title, although Barry is quick to spend money he isn’t authorized to spend if he thinks an EO will work. Any congress person who equated gun ownership to disease would be turned out of office the very next election: it’s a `3rd rail issue’ like the social security political football, but the 2nd Amendment arouses strong feelings in all gun owners, and there are a lot of us.

The Constitution also guarantees life and liberty, yet they fund Planned Parenthood and a multitude of social programs that make tax slaves out the productive art of the country.

It’s easy to see why not too very long ago we were shooting at writers like this guy and others like him who think a natural right can be deleted by a king or House of Lords. We commoners will keep our arms. Why is this limey sticking his oar in anyway? SOB.

King George tried to confiscate/Ban the Americans’ right to keep and bear arms. And he got about as far with that as would any dictator-wannabe nowadays. Namely, those firearms are out there for a reason and that reason is to stop any new kings dictators tsars or califes from enslavjng American cutizens.

Obama is at his most successful when he can create a GOP straw man that is “standing in his way” from doing good for the country. Seriously, since he is not a man who understands deal-making or compromise and loathes anyone who sees things differently than he, his entire Presidency is based on leveraging support from the uninformed voter by ripping the GOP for ‘standing’ in his way. Say what you want but, this method, though extremely divisive, has kept him in power....even though he has scarce few actual accomplishments.

And, what he has accomplished has been through Executive order. Though illegal, Obama’s been able to get away with it because, “He’s forced to do it because of the evil GOP.”

This Gun Control fight he started after the Oregon shooting is a classic Obama ploy. Tell the country the GOP made this happen and they won’t let him fix it. Again, it accomplishes nothing, creates a divisive atmosphere, but keeps him in power and relevant.

Moving on, the reason foreign policy is so vexing to Obama is precisely because he can’t create a GOP Straw man for his problems. He simply can’t blame the GOP for Syria or for Crimea and therefore he can’t create a political tension that sucks the uninformed voter to his side.

If you think about it, Obama’s Foreign policy is really an excellent window into how feckless a leader Obama truly is. The truth is Obama’s domestic policy is equally as unimpressive but, his ability to mask its failures by creating political tensions is his real success.

Screw the left-wing BBC.

The British are subjects. Americans are citizens.

“America, thank God, isn’t the UK.”

Thank God is right. And thank the wise Founding Fathers.

After a careful and thoughtful reading of the 2nd amendment it is straight forward that all weapon control laws are unconstitutional.

Just a lie repeated by the left, over and over.

The Congress prohibited the CDC from producing anti- Second Amendment propaganda.

There has been lots of research, but the results do not come out the way the left wants.
