On Friday, in response to the shooting at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon in which Christians were targeted and murdered, Tennessee Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey minced no words in his concise message to Christians and those who believe in the values of Western Civilization: buy guns.
Ramsey issued his statement on Facebook, linking it to aNew York Post article headlined, Oregon gunman singled out Christians during rampage. Ramsey pointed out other recent mass shootings as he posited that the targets were the same: Christians and defenders of the West. His post read:
As I scroll through the news this morning I am saddened to read the details of the horrible tragedy in Oregon. My heart goes out to the citizens of Roseburg especially the families and loved ones of those murdered.
The recent spike in mass shootings across the nation is truly troubling. Whether the perpetrators are motivated by aggressive secularism, jihadist extremism or racial supremacy, their targets remain the same: Christians and defenders of the West.
While this is not the time for widespread panic, it is a time to prepare. I would encourage my fellow Christians who are serious about their faith to think about getting a handgun carry permit. I have always believed that it is better to have a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not have it.
Our enemies are armed. We must do likewise.

Been underway since at least 32 AD.
He should have added, “And be prepared to use them.”
If it’s time to hide them it’s time to use them.
TN is very gun friendly. My son-in-law was stopped recently for speeding. The officer told him that when he ran his tag that he noticed that he has a carry permit. My SIL said “yes” and the officer asked him if he had his weapon with him. He said “no” and the officer told him that if he had a permit he needed to make sure to carry his weapon. LOL Most police here support permit holders 100%. BTW, my SIL didn’t get a ticket.
We are open or concealed carry and we are ‘shall issue’. I feel safe saying that most people here do have permits and do carry. It has come up a couple of times to let us carry without permits but so far it has been voted down. Hopefully someday we won’t be required to carry a permit when off our property or in public.
Any Christian who is not FULLY ARMED to the extent legally possible (including ammo and range time) DESERVES whatever happens next. In Syria, Iraq, and Egypt Christian Societies that go back thousands of years are getting DECIMATED, thanks to Hillary’s Arab Spring.
Christians had it good, under Mubarak, Hussain, and Basher...and didn’t see bad times coming and didn’t have the arms they needed.
Now they pay.
I had the same experience with a Douglas County Sheriff in Colorado. Sitting at a civil event the talk was of concealed carry applications, and this high ranking official in the department felt the county was safer with citizens carrying. He felt criminals get the message that a population is armed.
Texas has not had a history of open carry. That was put in place during Reconstruction.
It is now permissible with a Concealed Permit.
It has always been allowable to carry a gun in the glove box when traveling and on your hip when hunting or going to farm to hunt. Nobody I know has ever had a problem with that.
In cities, it is different. I live in the Big Nothing.
Everyone has guns.
