Russia's launch of airstrikes in Syria is prompting discussions within the Pentagon about whether the U.S. should use military force to protect U.S.-trained and equipped Syrian rebels if they come under fire by the Russians.

U.S. officials said Thursday that senior military leaders and defense officials are working through the thorny legal and foreign policy issues and are weighing the risks of using force in response to a Russian attack.

Wait...what? Didn’t you guys testify just 2 weeks ago that the training mission was an abject failure? That only 5 men...5 men were even left in the program? All the rest had abandoned the US training and either ran off to Europe or joined ISIS? Perhaps our best policy is to just get out of the Middle East tribal wars.

And for God’s sake stop trying to play Saudi Arabia and Iran against the middle. They are making us look like fools!

I don’t love the idea of Russia gaining power in the region but they’ve been there all along.

The only reason they’re gaining power now is because we decided to insert ourselves into Syria’s civil war and try to manipulate an outcome.

Meanwhile, our only real allies in the region (Kurds) are still screwed.

No it is not a game, but if this is God’s endgame...

I sure hope those Eagle’s Wings described in Revelations, as saving Israel are the United States, because that means our country is about to do an about face from this abomination it elected.

This is crazy. Nothing in the ME is as it seems. Is Assad worth WW111? What is Obama’s obsession with him? What an incompetent!

Am I the only one that understands that the Russian's stated purpose is to kill the rebels we've armed and are backing?

Or that a military response to the Russian's trying to kill them will create a great risk for an expanded war and/or direct war w/ Russia?

And, oh yeah, do we even know which rebels we're supporting and which rebels we're fighting?

Is our leadership that f'ing stupid?

Madness of the Left joined by the likes of McCain, Fiorina, and McCarthy. The US terrorists are getting their butts kicked by Ivan and the US wants to protect and further aid the head choppers. This is either madness or another Obama plot to bring down the US.

"and Assad has helped ISIS"

Citing unnamed "Resistance" sources. or Ergodan's spokesman, as evidence that Assad is supporting ISIS does not edify the rest of us.

I'm not saying it's not true.

I'm saying the sources are suspect.

[lima beans with ham MRE... yum]

In my day they came in cans. They were called “ham and lunkers” or “ham and motherf__kers.”
