Fiorina: 'We must be prepared’ to use force on Russia
The Hill ^ | 10/1/15 | Mark Hensch

Amid conflicting reports about Moscow targeting U.S.-alllied groups in Syria, GOP presidential candidate Carly Fiorina said late Wednesday that she backs military readiness against Russian forces.

“I believe we must tell the Russians that we will conduct [and] we will secure a no-fly zone around anti-Assad rebel forces that we’re supporting,” she said on Fox News’s "Hannity."

“Does that mean we might use force against Russian jets?” host Sean Hannity then asked. “Well, hopefully not,” Fiorina responded. "Hopefully, if we are signaling clearly to the Russians are intention, it will not come to that.”

“But if it does come to that, I think we must be prepared,” the former Hewlett-Packard CEO added.

She’s nuts. Just plain nuts.

Nope. Russia threatening nuclear war, flying military aircraft with transponders off in commercial airspace and rampaging through Europe resulting in 8,000 deaths is nuts.

Putting Russia on notice that the U.S. will respond to their unacceptable behavior is the proper thing to do.

Willing to start WWIII just to show she’s a tough female.

Russia has threatened nuclear war recently. Yet Fiorinia is the warmonger? You sound like a Code Pinko, FRiend.

Carly wasn’t supposed to melt down until AFTER she got the nomination as GOPe Designated Loser. Karl Rove and Reince Priebus blow it yet again for their donors.

She’s not nuts. The US engaged Russian fighters in both North Korea and Vietnam and WW3 never broke out.

Exactamundo, FRiend. Sad to see so many FReepers parroting one party state fascist Russia propaganda.

The US electorate is in full appeasement mode. There is no will, right or left, to confront Russia, Iran, or Bermuda for that matter. ISIS is an evil group but Russia, China and Iran are also evil bastards and the evil bastards in Iran are also batsh6t crazy. Russias alliance with Iran in their Syrian intervention is the proximate cause of worry but there is no will amongst the US electorate to do anything about it so we will just sit and wait until Iran has nukes and delivery systems and some nut types the go word while Russia lines it’s pockets with Middle Eatern money.

The bottom line. Not worth the escalation to war because Obama wants to put another radical Jihadist regime on the map that would support terrorism and attack Israel. Obama and the stupid media call these groups who want to take down Assad as "moderates". I don't think so.

"Unacceptable behavior"? You talk like a schoolteacher scolding a student.

My God, the naiveté is staggering.

She's nuts. Just plain nuts.

She'll get Adelson $$$ and a cushy gig with a war mongering think tank after her phony campaign flames out. Nice work if you can get it.

Drinking game:

Watch FNC today & tonight and take a drink after a guest mentions of "1938", "Neville Chamberlain", "appeasement".

Yours is the first sober, rational comment on this entire thread. To everyone else: I realize what she said went too far, but the level of childish name calling and hyperbole that has ensued here is more fitting of DU than FR.

We're supposed to be the thoughtful, rational side, yet lately it seems I see more and more poorly reasoned, emotionally hysterical comments. Just in this thread alone, I have noticed crude name-calling, references to Jews controlling Fiorina's foreign policy (which echoes increasingly common strains of late of "Jews control the world" conspiracy theory), and a big dose of Libertarian isolationism. Please explain to me how any of that nonsense aligns with conservative principles.

This Paulian notion that we can just mind our own business here and everyone else will leave us alone is simply fatally naive in today's world. If you think Putin is merely trying to wipe out some terrorists and protect his ally Assad in the process, you just haven't been paying attention. If you believe that, you probably also believed that he only entered Ukraine at the behest of a downtrodden ethnic Russian minority (or the equally mistaken notion that Hitler only entered the Sudetenland to protect ethnic Germans). Putin is taking full advantage of Obama's weakness to take as much strategically significant territory as he can. So is China.

The intended end game here is to permanently cripple the United States' ability to influence world events, and to move swiftly toward that goal while we are distracted with nonsense like transgenderism and led by a compliant, traitorous Marxist/Islamist president. This is the real deal now. The bear and the dragon are out for blood while our "President" is intentionally trying to destabilize every non-Islamist regime remaining in the Mideast, with the intent, I believe, of creating a nuclear-armed caliphate.

And yet you guys still think the next President (should they be an actual patriot) should just stick the nation's metaphoric head in the sand, hum a happy tune, and hope all the monsters go away? I pray your approach does not hold sway and we finally elect a leader who will bolster our military strength and use its power of deterrence when necessary. Remember, Reagan was constantly berated as a "warmonger" and someone who was going to get us into World War III. Maybe I missed it, but I don't recall that happening.

And just for the record, I don't support Fiorina (nor do I necessarily count her out yet). My opinion is that the best candidate by far is Ted Cruz.

Pretty gutsy with someone else’s lives.

Once we pulled out of Iraq we lost any leverage so now there are no options for us to engage unless we want to go in full bore and that means loss of lives.

Then couple that with Egypt and then Libya and our failure to engage in Syria’s civil war...(I think we now know why. Putin gave Obama a clear behind the scenes message. You step in against Syria and we’ll fight you. Who knows, Putin might be the one behind Benghazi.)

I think you’ll see Fiorina go down very quickly here after this.

I doubt this will win her votes. Last month she also said she wouldn’t even talk with Putin.

“The US engaged Russian fighters in both North Korea and Vietnam”

When and where did that happen? Were there dogfights? Shooting exchanges on the ground? Please provide evidence for this claim. Links, please.

The truth is, in Korea Macarthur wanted to fight the Chinese - and Truman fired him out of feat of WWIII. Truman would have fired the wild-eyed Fiorina too.

It’s kind of interesting that both of you seem to be ok with US getting into another Korean or Vietnam war, in Syria. If Fiorina keeps talking this way, and somehow gets nominated, look for a national loss of even greater proportions than he California flame-out against Boxer.
