I heard it around 1969 approximately. A friend of mine let me hear his LP (Long Playing)record of it. I was impressed then and still am as of 2015 for what was on that LP still holds up as one of the best analysis of the Biblical prophecy about the Coming War with Russia which will involve, among other nations, Russia, The United States, Syria, Iran, Egypt, and Israel.

On that LP record The Coming War with Russia, which as stated I first heard around 1969, your particular question isn't answered but the LP illustrated from the Bible the evidence that the war will involve nuclear weapons as well as what will be Russia's outcome.
The LP also illustrated from Scripture what would happen to Israel and that the outcome will involved two to three billion people dying, which should the war occur in the very near future means between two and three billion people will die very shortly.

I recall reading about the destruction of Damascus in the Bible and found the above on a search. However, the above blog makes some reasoned arguments that that won't be until far in the future. It will happen after an invasion of Israel, but Israel at that time will be a place of peace and security - with no walls or gates or bars on the windows (God is there protecting it).
So the author makes this to be far in the future.
Although I've always thought that the idea of God using nuclear war to destroy the earth as silly. I'm guessing He has something WAY more powerful than a bunch of nukes.
However - that isn't to say that this Middle East thing won't turn into something REAL bad. Although I'm sure that obama’s peace plan of giving Iran nukes will keep it from turning into WWIII.

True, Laplata. Seems so long ago, doesn’t it? The world today is so different that for me it’s like trying to decide if something really happened or if it was all just a dream.
We got to experience a lot of good in the world. If not love, then at least concern for our fellow man. I fear for the young ones who will only experience the world of today. That is, if it doesn’t get any better. It’s all they will know as their “truth” on which to base their judgments.

I have been a student of Bible prophecy for over 40 years and I am certain that the LP The Coming War with Russia more accurately reflected what God reveals through the Bible about that war than what is stated on the blog that your link leads to. What I just stated is not intended demean you or what the blog author wrote, but rather just a certainty of how accurate the LP I refer to was as early as approximately 1969.
