Donald Trump says 1950s 'Operation Wetback' is model immigration plan
Fox News ^

Donald Trump said that if he were to become president of the United States, part of his immigration policy would be modeled directly after a 1950s policy called "Operation Wetback."

In an interview published online for 60 Minutes Overtime, Trump told CBS anchor and correspondent Scott Pelley that his immigration plan to deport all undocumented immigrants in the country and allow them to come in on a per-case basis can work because President Dwight D. Eisenhower did it more than half a century ago.

"We are rounding them up in a very humane way, in a very nice way, and they're going to be happy because they want to be legalized," Trump explained in the portion of his 60 Minutes interview that did not make air.

Trump went on to defend his policy by citing Eisenhower's 1954 immigration policy, Operation Wetback, which deported roughly 1 million undocumented immigrants to Mexico.

“They self-repatriate and you don’t have to help them do it.”

That played a large part in Eisenhower’s efforts.

His repeated calls for universal health coverage that covers everyone on the country didn’t do it for you? Even in his Arizona speech where he said “Sorry conservatives, but we have to take care of everyone?”

Second, I have a feeling Trump is going to try to destroy his own campaign because he doesn’t really want to be president. Even more so, he doesn’t want to lose outright. I hope I’m wrong.

.

Please explain.

None of us know what exactly is in Trump’s mind, but our economy would CRASH without Illegals around in the short term. In the longer term, if some of the 47% can get out their Section 8 doors by noon, we might find some Americans to replace their word...maybe.

Overall...definitely take away the freebies. They have ZERO CLAIM to them and they need to learn to come here PROPERLY.

Did Trump actually say “Operation Wetback”? Or is faux just making it up?

Exactamundo, and you also uncover all of the shenanigans that have been going on corporate wise to increase profits...

Lower labor costs but attrition and competency training is often outwieghs the product value (Apple iPhones cost too much to build)

When Trump and Congress change the Corporate tax code there will be a stampede of companies streaming back, despite all of our flaws we are still the best investment and stable country to deal with and they will not bear the cost of all the accounting gimmicks needed today...

All of this is delicious as it further erodes the International Money Cartels levers...

More Cowbell and Popcorn!

Operation Trump:

(My Take on how to deport 30 million illegal aliens)

Phase 1: Voluntary Paid deportation, If you turn yourself in for free deportation the US government will pay for their plane/bus/boat ticket back to the country of their origin. In exchange for paying for the person’s fare home you take their finger prints and bio-metric data and picture, etc. You put it in a database and they have to wait 10 years and pay a $5,000 fee before they can legally apply to come into this country again, all future travel visas are denied as well in this time period.

Phase 2: Start by going after people here on expired Visas. Start with the northern states and work your way Downward to the southern states, by the time you get to the southern most states good money will be on a lot of these illegals already being gone. You have to start with the states that have the least density of illegals (more than likely the northern states). You take their finger prints and bio-metric data and picture, etc. You put their fingerprints and pictures in a database and they have to wait 20 years and pay a $10,000 fee before they can legally apply to come into this country again, all future travel visas are denied as well in this time period.

Phase 3: Finish off the Remnants that are here illegally who didn’t self deport in Phase 1, Or were taken care of in Phase 2. Start again in the northern states and work your way down. You put their fingerprints and pictures in a database and they have a lifetime ban on ever becoming a legal immigrant, all future travel visas are denied permanently as well.

Phase 4: Make sure we Finish the Damned wall.

Phase 5: Maintain immigration enforcement for those who are still sneaking in. Anyone caught here illegal is immediately deported, You put their fingerprints and pictures in a database and they have a lifetime ban on ever becoming a legal immigrant, all future travel visas are denied permanently as well.

Basically you self-deport them by letting them know they will be deported.

Trump spoke to Pelley about Eisenhower's successful operation to repatriate illegal immigrants. He didn't say the coined phrase by the Eisenhower administration operation 'Wet Back' in the 60 Minutes interview.

Not really. While his past comments on healthcare are cryptic and a little worrisome, he has said some encouraging things recently about opening up competition among insurers, etc.

He wants to repeal Obamacare. Thats a good start.

My issue is illegal immigration. If we don't get that one right and soon then none of the rest of the stuff matters.

Yes, that's called "self deporting". It was one of Romney's few strong points and Trump said it was a terrible idea and that Romney lost the Latino vote because of it. In 2012 "the Donald" sounded like a liberal on immigration, now he's apparently changed his tune entirely.

Ahh, I see. It's just faux news trying to make Trump sound as incendiary as possible. Cheep shot.
