The correct response to this is to put a couple aircraft carriers and several destroyers in the Black Sea a few miles offshore of Crimea and tell the Russkies to get out.

It's a prudent move. American planes are flying over, and not being given clearance to obliterate ISIS when they are spotted.

At least the Russians will pulverize the insects.

Putin issues orders, Obama will comply.

This is a terrible omen of things to come.

Russia, Syria, Hizbollah and Iran will now “help” Syria defeat ISIS.

Syria will cease to exist as a state.

Russia takes over.

Now the ONLY thing standing between the Axis of Evil and the West is the very state Obama hates - Israel.

Where are our Putin butt kissers to defend this? Those phony lowlife scumbags. Why they are allowed to remain on this site

You're worried about the hundreds of your fellow Chechen terrorists who happen to be in Syria right now. Don't worry. They will be dead soon.

Don't worry, the Nobel Peace Prize laureate won't get into any wars, he can't, it's against his principles. He knows only surrender, defeat, humiliation and apologizing. No wars, only defeat & surrender.

Putin could care less about ISIS.

This is all about a power grab.

Nothing less. Nothing more.

I’m sure Hussein will reply to the Russians’ reasonable request.

However if Putin ends up mopping the deck with ISIS, that isn’t a bad thing. Everyone knows that Russia has traditionally wanted warm water ports and to extend their influence into the Middle East in a major way, stopping that now may not be possible.

What would you recommend as the U.S. response?

The ruskies are on the right side there.

They can do the job but afterwards, Russia and Iran take over Syria.

Israel next or Lebanon? Methinks Lebanon.

The issue here is airspace management and deconfliction; you can’t conduct air operations with a third party noncooperatively flying in your airspace without putting aircraft from both sides at extreme risk. This is why we don’t permit non-allied forces to operate in our AO in Afghanistan or Iraq. Putin could have asked us to be allies in this operation, but Obama clearly sides with the radical muzzies over Assad, so that is a no go. He could operate with us in his airspace, which eventually will lead to someone losing aircraft and could spark WWIII; probably not a good idea. Or he could tell us to stay our of his AO; most sensible choice given the options. What else is he supposed to do?

I saw your post #43 which answered my question in my #50, so we put a couple of aircraft carriers into the region, how do you think that plays out if Putin decides he isn’t going to back off?

Think logistics. Putin is not that far from Mother Russia, our forces on the other hand are half a world away. Our armed forces have been slashed and minimized to the lowest level of readiness since World War I, and that is no way to prepare to confront the Russian bear.

He is acting no differently than the U.S. would if one of our allies was threatened and requested assistance from us.

Could we be at war for real before the elections?

How much territory can Hussein give up? If the Russians and Chinese are aggressive enough we can be pushed right back to our North American borders, borders which don't really exist.

How would we receive a couple of million Chinese troops in battle dress and armed flooding across our borders as "refugees" and undocumented immigrants just looking for jobs and a better life? Would Hussein tell ICE and the Border Patrol to "stand down?" Would the government strive to resettle them in strategic voting enclaves in Conservative states?

Byproduct.

Everyone knows that Russia has traditionally wanted warm water ports and to extend their influence into the Middle East in a major way, stopping that now may not be possible.

If that were true, why does Russia not have a warm water port in Cuba?

What would you recommend as the U.S. response?

See post #43.

I can only hope that all the fools who celebrated this guy's election are totally embarrassed.

Sorry to dash your hopes, but I know some of them, and they're not at all embarrassed. They're quite proud of themselves, and I'm a bigot for not seeing things their way.

Your post is logical and based on fact. The nations in that region understand that the U.S. is all talk and no action, and that is because Obama is a pussy.

Putin on the other hand, means what he says, and they know it.
