The Cold, Hard Truth About Planned Parenthood and the Fight to Defund It (King's & Cruz's Op-Ed)

The next few sentences may be hard to read, but they must be seen and heard, with responsible and compassionate action following. Americans must know what Planned Parenthood does to unborn children.

Cutting through an aborted baby’s face to access its brain…while its heart is still beating... Crushing a baby’s body, while strategizing how to keep its organs intact... Selling body parts of dead babies...This is Planned Parenthood. This is what the Obama Administration is willing to shut down the government in order to continue funding.

It’s been over two months since the Center for Medical Progress released its first video revealing the horrifying and barbaric nature of Planned Parenthood. Since then, nine additional videos have surfaced that expose the truly atrocious practices of the abortion industry – and one thing is clear: women’s health is not Planned Parenthood’s top priority. It is also worth noting Planned Parenthood has not disputed the content of the videos.

Planned Parenthood doesn’t want Americans to know the facts. Planned Parenthood is America’s largest provider of abortions, which makes it the largest depriver of life. The organization performs one abortion every 90 seconds. Hundreds of thousands of annual abortions generate nearly 40 percent of Planned Parenthood’s clinic revenues.

American taxpayers are currently forced to fund this likely criminal organization, which barters and sells the body parts of unborn children. Selling the organs of unborn children for profit is a crime, punishable by up to 10 years in prison. The organization also has performed more than a million abortions over the past three years, and its work accounts for nearly one-third of all abortions in the United States. But now, Congress has the opportunity to end government funding for Planned Parenthood.

For far too long, Planned Parenthood hides behind the guise that it provides women’s healthcare. Listening to the organization’s propaganda would lead one to believe Planned Parenthood is the only provider of women’s health services in many areas. The facts tell a different story. For every one Planned Parenthood location, there are 20 low-cost clinics offering far more encompassing women’s health services. Community health centers, charities, state health departments and other government entities all provide quality women’s health services. On average there is a clinic providing women’s health services within five miles of each Planned Parenthood.

If Planned Parenthood cares as much about women’s health as it claims, then the organization should support the effort to redirect money to women’s community health providers, who unlike Planned Parenthood, are actually held to hospital standards. Taxpayer dollars would be better spent directed to the more than 13,000 health centers and hospitals providing comprehensive women’s health care. And the majority of Americans agree.

Although there is so much more we could say about the evils of Planned Parenthood, let’s pause with this one note. Just like a little arsenic in a glass of hot chocolate, millions of abortions make Planned Parenthood a business that the federal government does not need to be funding with our tax dollars. It is a moral imperative of our nation to defund Planned Parenthood.

Thus far, the facts and the truth surrounding women’s healthcare have been brushed under the rug and conveniently forgotten during the debate to defund Planned Parenthood. After learning the facts, we all should be able to vehemently agree that women need access to the best care, which is why defunding Planned Parenthood is a moral imperative.

And yet, this is precisely what is being ignored when the President and too many members of Congress say preserving Planned Parenthood is worth shutting down the entire federal government to protect.

As children, we were taught to care for the least among us; this includes babies and women who Planned Parenthood victimizes. We believe that there are millions of Americans who are ready to care. All it takes is to hear the truth.

Ted Cruz couldn’t get anyone in the Senate to back him tonight as he tried to get a ban on Planned Parenthood funding and a linkage of the Iran Nuclear deal in a government funding bill. He stood alone on the Senate floor:
Cruz’s amendment would place a one-year ban on federal funding for Planned Parenthood. It would also ban the Obama administration from using funds from the short-term bill to implement the Iran nuclear deal or any “assessed contributions” to the United Nations until lawmakers receive the “side deals” between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The “side deals” have been a key point of contention among opponents of the deal. Cruz and House Republicans have suggested that the 60-day congressional review period for the Iran nuclear deal hasn’t started because the administration hasn’t given lawmakers the agreements.

After the procedural back-and-forth, Cruz slammed Republican leadership, suggesting they repeatedly “surrender” to President Obama.

“You know, President Obama has negotiated a catastrophic nuclear deal with Iran. Republican leadership goes on television all the time and rightly says this is a catastrophic deal,” he added. “I would suggest that if we actually believed the words that are coming out of their mouths, then we should be willing to use any and all constitutional authorities.”

After this Cruz launched into an hour speech, one that Mark Levin just tweeted out saying it’s a MUST LISTEN.

I agree that we are under judgement. The wages of abandoning God is extinction. We can lose it all and never see it coming... and in fact we do see it coming and seem powerless to lift a finger to stop it. We can’t even fight for our own survival because we no longer see any point to it. And in our present condition, there isn’t much point to it.
