North Korean supreme leader Kim Jong Un toured a recently completed luxury river cruiser in Pyongyang and named it Mujigae (rainbow), state media said on Monday.
The multi-floor vessel, spotted under construction by NK News in September last year, contains restaurants, bars, a coffee shop, roof deck and even sushi-conveyor belt-style dining area, pictures published in Mondays Rodong Sinmun showed.
Kim Jong Un appreciated the installation of a peculiar round lift and the construction of round stairs, adding that the revolving restaurant on the third floor looks spectacular and it is fantastic to command a birds-eye view of Pyongyang from it, the KCNA said about his visit.
The vessel, which KCNA said could serve up to 1,230 guests in facilities distributed over four stories, was ordered by Kim Jong Un to start service before October 10.
October 10 is the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Workers Party of Korea (WPK) and is expected to be a major celebration.

I’m a big fan of the conveyor belt-style sushi delivery system.
If you miss your option, just wait 2 minutes and the opportunity comes around again.
Brilliant. Unless half your country is starving.
Maybe a grass and tree bark delivery system?
Thin guys with big hats.
I don’t know. He looks well fed.
***peculiar round lift***
To carry the little round leader from one deck to another?
Hanging with the fat guy with no hat.
Where do they store the dead bodies of servants who make mistakes?
“Thin guys with big hats.”
They look like creatures from the Twilight Zone!
"What do you think you been eating the last six months."
Obama’s current generals are little more than stenographers, also. He learned well, :)
Anyone ever notice that dictators (especially 3rd World ones) look utterly ridiculous?
**But the vessel is so large that it cannot actually do anything but sail between the nearby Okryu Bridge and Taedong Bridge, being too high to pass under either and access other parts of the river.**
If I can trust Google maps, that looks to be about 0.8 miles
back in the early 90’s I had dealings with people that were pushing Russian river cruises on a similar vessel. One of the reasons for loading folks on the boats was that travel was nearly impossible because there were in effect, no roads.
At one point, the vessel tied up at a city, or maybe a large village to load new food. Alas it was not there. they sat there for several days on reduced rations waiting for the new supplies to arrive as I recall by rail.
I guess Kim thinks he can attract some money and Japanese tourists to his roadless kingdom
7 or 8 guys taking notes...
Actually the dinner table is what triggered the question. Imagine his skeet shooting off the back of the boat. "PULL!" "AAAAHHHHH" "BOOM" "SPLASH"
No food on the dishes. Big Guy ate it all.
The boat is so big, it can’t go beyond the downtown bridges. It is trapped on a little back and forth route a few blocks long. I’m guessing the designers will be shot for it when they figure that out.
Who’s supposed to go cruising on this rig?
IIRC there’s a similar issue with Indiana-based casino riverboats operating on the Ohio River.
Due to the state boundaries with KY which are based on a late 1700’s high water mark, the Indiana casino boats can go pretty far up river or downriver from their docks.
But they can’t turn around. Doing so would have them cross the KY state line and KY’s anti-casino laws prohibit them from doing so.
