Oscar Nominee Subjects Are Going to Be a Heavy Dose of Lesbians, Transgenders, Pedophile Priests

Get ready. This is going to be an interesting year at the Oscars.

The movies that are getting into position for Best Picture nominations are not “Driving Miss Daisy” material.

One of the leading candidates is “Spotlight,” Tom McCarthy’s exciting telling of how Boston Globe reporters unmasked 90 pedophile priests. The film has an all star cast including Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton and Liev Schreiber. They will all be contenders in the Best Supporting Acto race.

“Carol” is a love story about two lesbians in 1952 New York. Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara are the lovers, and their work is exceptional. Director Todd Haynes, the actresses, and cinematographer Ed Lachman will all be up for awards.

“Grandma” stars Lily Tomlin as a hippie grandmother, pot smoking lesbian who’s trying to help her granddaughter raise enough money for an abortion. Tomlin is absolutely sterling, and leads my list of potential Best Actress nominees.

Then there’s the transgender section: Eddie Redmayne plays a man who becomes a woman in “The Danish Girl.” Redmayne is absolutely spot on as he makes the transition with his loyal– and unusually understanding– wife (Alicia Vikander) by his side. Tom Hooper’s movie is exquisite.

I wouldn’t be surprised at all if five of the eight or nine Best Picture nominees include “Spotlight,” “The Danish Girl,” “Carol,” “Grandma,” and “Spotlight.” Whoever hosts the Academy Awards is going to have a lot of fun summarizing these films. Really, only Billy Crystal could pull off a proper parody of “The Danish Girl.”

Other potential Best Picture nominees will be less cutting edge sexually: “Bridge of Spies” from Steven Spielberg, “Steve Jobs” from Danny Boyle, Robert Zemeckis’s “The Walk,” Ridley Scott’s “The Martian,” and Quentin Tarantino’s “Hateful Eight” don’t involve gender issues.

As it was in the Days of Lot ... so shall it be in the Days of the Coming of the Son of Man (paraphrased).

And they knew not that the disaster was coming ...

Matthew 24:39 King James Version (KJV)

39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

This year, have there been ANY family-friendly movies that people of all ages can enjoy? The old standbys....sports-themed stories, people and their pets, crazy vacations at gandma's house? High-quality comedies without a political or social agenda? Interesting historical dramas? Comedies that will be classics? Children's stories that aren't just for children?

I've reached a point where I almost never go to a movie unless it's PG13 or better. Violence and lewdness have made even R movies unpleasant.

The Ezekiel 38 war will wake up much of the world.

Then, the Antichrist will bring false peace, and fool the world.

The Two Witnesses shall walk the Earth and Rapture to Heaven in plain view of the world (Revelation chapter 11).

Then the Antichrist and the False Prophet will offer eternal torment via the Mark of the Beast and force the remaining to choose eternal life by refusing the Mark or eternal death by accepting the Mark.

That will be pretty much the last shot until the end of the 1,000 reign. Of course, the judgements are falling then, too.

He’s trying to get the world’s attention. Few have ears to hear.

Oh...no..please...no way...this can’t be true...My Mother, brother and his family are driving in to spend Christmas with me this year...and I was worried about not having a good movie for us to go see together..

Thank you, thank you, thank you...for “Carol!”

I’m crying tears of joy here this morning. I really thought I’d have nothing to watch over thanksgiving with my cat.

You never know when the tipping point is reached, and the world as we know it today changes.

I will not be surprised if Time Magazines decides on the Man of the year (or Event of the year) this year will be to celebrate homosexuals. For better or worse homosexuality has dominated our culture and it seems to have reached a zenith this year, with the Supreme Court ruling.

Will the majority culture just fade away or will there be a backlash? I don’t really know but would not be surprised if there is one.

“I have not watched them in decades and do not think I have missed anything.”..................

Such films are pure garbage, a waste of good money and do absolutely NOTHING to improve the already downgraded morals of this decaying nation. Garbage! The American people need to wake up and “clean up”.

And liberals still claim that Hollywood doesn't affect our culture. It's supposedly just "window" on our culture. Unfortunately, if you make the "window" large enough and it repeatedly shows different unworkable reality through it, people will eventually believe. Is there any other explanation for all the inane reality shows?

There's a reason that Madison Avenue spends billions and billions of dollars on advertising, promotion, and essentially propaganda - it works. We are now a sorry nation of celebrity worshipers, rioters over the latest cool sneaker, accept un-natural life-styles, and no longer believe in the traditional values that built the World's greatest nation . America has been dumbed down...not sure there is any return. However, we fight on.

I hate award shows. It's about Hollywood slapping itself on the back - nothing more. Seems like every few years there is another award show that pops up, or the ole stand-bys have to include countless nominees rather than the best 5 as in the past. Humility is obviously not a virtue in Hollywood.

This is one of the reasons I don't like Trump. He is exploiting his own "cult of personality" with his rhetoric. Ducking for incoming.
